We wrapped up our summer school program with one final outing - canoeing down the Humber River! Students enjoyed building new skills in the presence of local wildlife like ducks and herons out and about on this beautiful day ☀️

Summer school students took a trip to Woodbine Beach to unwind and explore after a day of Civics learning last month - it was a great opportunity to get outside and make some memories before the program came to a close!

From Biidaasige Park to Riverdale Farm and beyond, Future Cities week was packed with city exploration, sustainable design, and future-forward problem solving, as campers created their ideal cities, inspired by all they saw and learned!

Our Civics and Careers summer students enjoyed volunteering at both Second Harvest and Daily Bread Food Bank to give back to the communities they’ve been learning about. Their mornings were filled with meaningful work packing food boxes to help fight hunger in our city. Thank you to Second Harvest | Deuxième Récolte and Daily Bread Food Bank for these opportunities!

Thank you to STEM Works for providing an extremely enriching week of STEM Makers programming to our budding robotics enthusiasts! Students took part in numerous challenges like bridge building, robot racing, egg drop engineering, circuit building, and so much more, both on campus and at TPL’s Digital Innovation Hub, where they took a deeper dive into 3D printing and design. Our arts and culture tour of Toronto continued to Casa Loma, where students learned all about the history of Sir Henry Pellatt’s intricate 98-room private residence inspired by the castles of Europe. We explored its many rooms and tunnels, while learning about all of its different uses over the years - we even found a wax museum of all the famous actors who have filmed there in the past! A final guest speaker series thank you to David McDivitt, for speaking to our Careers students about what life can look like in the field of engineering and product design. Students got to see, hear and even feel the ins and outs of the industry thanks to the numerous textile samples he brought in to share with us!

Thank you to Tina McDivitt Rajabian for coming in to speak to our students about her career in molecular biology as part of our guest speaker series this year - Tina also introduced students to Spindle’s Invaders vs. Defenders science-based card game - which we all enjoyed trying to master!
