Happy Spring! Season Two of the podcast Anthropomania is live!
Creators I know you can attest - Making a second season of any kind of show - tv, podcast, web; a second album, a second book - is in some ways a bigger deal than the first season. Every season you build on is proof that your idea has value in the marketplace. And is relevant and meaningful, even if it's pure fun and entertainment. You get better and go deeper. Creating something from scratch is *hard work* and so rewarding.
One of the few antidotes we can rely is nature to help us with perspective during stressful times. And the human relationship to nature, animals, plants,(our specialty) is a worthy topic to help remind us that there is life beyond the headlines.
"BINGEWORTHY: Are Nature Documentaries Good For Nature?" is the first episode of Season Two of Anthropomania. We gathered some of the brightest minds including Emmy and BAFTA winning filmmakers to discuss the many angles - what do we know about their impact and what role does the filmmakers motivation play? Is social media making long-form docs irrelevant?
From the director of the latest BBC doc (The Green Planet), to an Oxford University researcher studying the impact of wildlife docs, to a TikTok influencer reaching GenZ in 15 second chunks, hosts Jay Ingram and Niki Wilson wade into the deep waters of how we view animals both literally an figuratively.
It's streaming now everywhere - have a listen and let us know what you think! Link to podcast in comments, below. #

"Logic explains. Stories persuade" It's the head 🧠 - heart ❤️ paradox. If you want to explain something to me, use logic. It's the 6 o'clock news version of getting information out. We need logic, but logic doesn't evoke the kind of response the way a well crafted story does. It's 🍎& 🍊 , really.
A story, though? A story excites our neurons. A story evokes empathy. A story makes us feel connected. A story can change your day, change your life, change your fortunes.
How do you write your PR, your news releases, scripts, social content?. How do you communicate with stakeholders? Your employees? Are you the six o'clock news or are you a storyteller?

So, How do you ‘humanize’ a brand?
To someone’s who’s never heard of you or your brand it’s likely just an abstract, It’s intangible. Forgotten in a moment as we scroll and swipe all day long.
How do you humanize your brand and change your fortune?
📌It’s not by projecting personality traits or having a customer avatar.
📌It’s not by hiring an influencer or even the CEO of your company to be your ‘brand ambassador’.
📌And it’s not by relying on customer service reps to do the frontline heavy lifting.
All of these may be legitimate ideas for you to work on. But, if you’re goal is 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 with your customers or clients - and more importantly your 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 customers and clients- your connection will be accelerated through something else.
𝐒 𝐓 𝐎 𝐑 𝐘 𝐓 𝐄 𝐋 𝐋 𝐈 𝐍 𝐆
Not just random day-in-the-life stories - but meaningful, relevant and authentic stories that align with your values and make your customers feel seen. That takes skill. And courage.
Big marketing campaigns and major pivots like what we’ve seen during the pandemic require you to tell the right story in the right way.
Here are some tips to get you started.
1. What feeling do you want to illicit?
2. Whats the message you want to share and why?
3. What is the most powerful feedback you’ve heard (or experienced) that led you here?
4. Who should tell your story? The most obvious person isn’t necessarily the right one.
5. Which medium will reach your target audience? Where do your customers hang out? Social media? Podcasts?

🎧 Weekend plans 🎧
Cute piglets right? Well, they are actually part of a massive Wild Boar invasion run amok on the prairies, Ontario and all over the US. They cause millions in damage, DESTROY crops, land and tip the scales at 300 kilos /600 lbs, so good luck if they charge you.
Biologist Ryan Brook from has been studying them for years and says wild boar population in Saskatchewan is going to overtake humans before in our lifetime. 🐗 😱
He wants them eradicated. But it’s not that simple, and not everyone agrees with the approach. His story of tracking the feral swine and how they outsmart humans had me riveted. What did you think? 🤔
