My phone camera is having trouble focusing on this tiny swatch... I've been sampling yarn blends for spinning and I really don't know if I love or hate this blend.
I feel like lately I've been chasing a "perfect" yarn, one with a pure white base and colorful nepps/slubs to add a pop of colour and texture. I've found wool nepps to make the perfect look, but they can't be spun finely, and sari silk (as I've used here) and silk noil to mix in too much with the base yarn and make it look heathered and muddy, rather than a pure white. Nothing wrong with either a heavier weight or heathered look ofc, but that's not the yarn I want to make.
I am still going to dye up some noil and see how it goes.
This swatch was made with all SCs, using 1.5mm hook over 24 sts on the bottom section, and a 3mm hook over 18 sts for the top few rows just to see what it looks like at a different gauge.

Not sure if I've mentioned it before, but it is immensely frustrating that the algorithm pushes reels instead of photo posts. (If I wanted to be seeing/making short-form videos, I'd use tiktok. I do like tiktok, but I wish not every social media app was a tiktok clone nowadays.)
I don't use instagram nearly as often as I used to since they made this change, and I guess that's on me, but it doesn't seem worth the stress to try to keep making content that the algorithm won't promote.

And I don't *like* making videos? Like, why isn't that ok? I like making soft things, and I just barely learned how to make them look good in still photos, and now I have to learn a whole new art form just so people can see the art I already make and arrrgh i hate that so much.

Idk what to do about it too. I could pay someone to make videos for me, but that's not realistic unless my art becomes a business, and that probably won't happen if the algorithm doesn't promote my content, soooo I'll have to learn to make my own algorithm-friendly video content, which in the best case, means I won't need to hire anyone cuz I'd have already learned the skill.

Anyway, to the three of you who do interact this post, thanks ♡

I've been sewing a hook cozy with some handspun, handwoven felt fabric. I feel like the pieces I chose are too small, but they were all precut (for an older, abandoned project,) and I really like how "organic" and handcrafted it looks.

I made a apooky skull motif (shh, halloween is every day if you want it to be) but I think it will beca few more iterations before it looks right. Like, it looks good, but when I add lace around it it gets a bit lost.
This is (hopefully) going to be the main motif on a lacy edging that I can sew onto many garments.

4 hours of work, or 5 episodes of a wrestling doccumentary (Dark Side of the Ring) makes 65 rounds on this sock.
My roommate loves wrestling, so we've been watching this doc together whenever we're both free. I'm liking it a lot, but still pretty confused by all the terminology (and still unsure how much is actually scripted lol)

I have so many patches lol
Most of these are attached but i still gotta finish sewing a couple
I'm used to patch pants being all ripped up and repaired, so it feels uncanny to see these ones all pristine and nice. But I guarantee I'll be wearing them long enough for them to get to that point lol

As a fibre artist, sometimes I forget I can put my art on the wall.
These bolts of fabric will eventually become garments, but for now, they look great on the wall!

Working on a new pair of patch pants :3
These pokéballs look so cute here!
My fingers are already starting to hurt from sewing lol. Time to get a thimble I guess?

I've been working with recycled yarn from thrifted sweaters today. I've designed a pattern, for a simple boatneck, drop-shoulder sweater. This will be my first ever pattern release, so stay tuned for more info!

I've been working a lot with acrylic lately. Haven't been posting, because it's different from my usual style, and I'm generally very passionate about using environmentally sustainable materials.
Lately, I've felt that the bright coloured, machine-washable, affordable yarns from wal-mart are more sustainable *for me*. In, like, a self-care sense. I've been needing some quick (1-2 week) sweater projects lately, to give me that dopamine boost. I've also been wanting more casual handmade garments, that I don't have to worry about staining or pilling because they didn't take that long.

This also gives me the opportunity to knit for gifts, since care of synthetics is much easier for the recipient. This will be a christmas gift, meaning I won't be posting the rest of it until after christmas so the recipient doesn't get spoilers :p

Made with bernat brand yarns. Purple fabric is crocheted with a 6mm hook, and the fluffy white part is crocheted with a hefty 25mm hook.

The christmas gradient is coming together!
Finished 11 skeins, have 6 left.
Takes about 8 hours to spin one skein of singles, so I have my work cut out for me. But I gave myself a soft goal of finishing this project by christmas this year, and I'm going to do my best to make that happen!
I still have to pick out and order a warp to go with this set, since i have no plans to spin a kilo of plain black wool.
