You know I stay on my picture game these days. Heartache, grief and stress can be alleviated for a time, with an evening of laughter, incredible food, great friends… and throw in a splash of a world famous chef named and being spoiled by the good folks at .

I hate this. Hate this a lot. My bro, I just spoke to you on Sunday. You were cursing me out because you wanted to play my freestyles on your radio show and the next thing is I’m seeing REST IN PEACE. Just can’t understand these things. From the days of Stretch and Bob till now, thank you for always being your authentic self and being a friend to myself and to the culture. You will be missed. 😔 🕊️

Took some flicks in Jamaica (and managed to sneak in a few this time). Was therapeutic. With all the death in my family from last year, JA didn’t feel the same when I got there. It felt heavy, yet hollow for me if that makes any sense. But even in a short time spent, the energy of the island recharged my love and I felt all of my ancestors walking with me, as I moved around.

Not everybody is your friend. Remember that.🫡
Growing up in a Jamaican household, we were definitely told to not throw around that word “friend” too loosely. People a foreign love say “friend friend friend”-everybody is their friend. I have had that conversation with all three of my children several times and make sure that they understand the distinction between an acquaintance and an actual friend. Growing older I’ve definitely been able to use discernment, experience, and actions to determine who my actual friends are. Having that clarity is priceless.
Flew down to New York to see my little bro Skip Marley perform for the launch of his global Adidas campaign. I get to work with Skip on his music, but I think that even if he stopped making music, I would absolutely continue to check for him the same way. He is a serious man, but also a warm spirit. I absolutely enjoy the blessing of contributing towards his legacy. Thankful for and and the opportunity to witness greatness happen up close.

Scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. Put a hand up if you have ever put off talking to someone for a few minutes in order to keep scrolling on Instagram 👋🏾 I guess the question becomes, for what purpose? All the negativity that you just looked at, those comments that you just read, that rest in peace post at 7:14 AM… Was it worth it?
This is so many of our regular routines that it’s starting to feel normal. I’d be a hypocrite if I told you that I didn’t participate, but I’d also be a liar if I told you that I wasn’t actively trying to live in the present more. A lot more. I know they say that the embarrassing, negative and sensationalized things are what gets people‘s attention-but I also think that with every thing that happens in society, we also need reminders of what is important and we need tools to break the cycle.
Monday past, I released a song about friends and chosen family. As a big man, I will tell you that it is a breath of fresh air to know that the friends that I have in my life are some of the best people that I know. They will bad me up if I need it, they inspire me, they support me and they help me move around in this crazy life. They help me focus. They hold me accountable to fulfilling my purpose. One time for my friends. One time for your chosen family.
