That passion helped spark something powerful at West Lodge.
What began as a series of artmaking workshops grew into a strong sense of community — strong enough that partners reopened the building’s art room permanently.
Now, residents have a dedicated space to create, connect, and share stories together. It’s one more place where connection grows.

Meet César.
When a case manager encouraged him to join a MAMC art workshop at West Lodge, he decided to give it a try — and found himself painting scenes of the neighbourhood he loves.
“It really woke up the artist’s spirit inside,” he says. “But most importantly, it helped me connect with people again.”
Your support makes stories like César’s possible.

This spring, Making Art Making Change (MAMC) partnered with West Neighbourhood House to bring a community arts project to the residents of West Lodge.
For eight weeks, neighbours discovered their inner artist through painting, collage, and storytelling — mapping out the places and shared memories that make Parkdale home. From riding the 501 Streetcar to tending the gardens, the “Faces and Places of West Lodge” project brought their community to life on canvas.
Your support helps us offer workshops at no cost to participants, creating space for connection and creativity.
đź’› Donate today and your gift will be matched until December 31.
