March Music + Life lately
Randomly capturing clips is not a natural impulse to me but I’m working on it ok (also 80% would just be me sitting in the studio)
I’ve been playing with pitched delays automated on my guitar riffs with Lunacy’s Taps, adding a quick chord ‘shimmer’ that adds some nice colour 👌 (activate each time you see the taps light up)
Making a Cinematic Beat → I’ve been loving this chord movement ending with a bII maj7 to get back to I.
Using a resonator (corpus here) to bring out a pitch on percussion adds another dimension to the sound - here it enables the percussion to act as the ‘response’ melody to the distorted vocal part.
Can you hear tiny harmonic pitch bends? I saw another guitarist automate small pitch bends on their harmonics and I had to try it on this super poppy guitar track. Adds just a tiny bit of satisfying digital twang.

Five ways I’ve landed clients that have been key to sustaining my 10+ year full-time music career online. DM me if you want tips on any of these!
I’ve been trying new tunings to work in lots of harmonics into my guitar riffs and loving the possibilities it opens up - this one’s in EADF tuning.

Some sound design techniques I’ve picked up along the way 👆
I used to blindly stack layers to try to create a “bigger” “fuller” sound, but if a layer isn’t truly benefiting the final sound, it’s actually detrimental to the final product by eating up sonic space and masking the good stuff. If you don’t really miss a sound when it’s muted, it’s better to leave it that way.
Stranger Things style - Step 1: have a scary sick voice. Step 2: give every other synth filter a high resonance.
