Pivot Dancer Recommends: Wearables 💍⌚️

What’s Dinah’s latest favourite thing? Her Oura Ring! She loves it because it monitors your inner workings without you even knowing. And the best news? Sync the tracker to our Pivot Dancer App. Stay in tune with your body - always!

Good night, everyone 😴🌙

Hey Pivot Dancer community, Dinah here 👋

I have a question for you! Dancers, dance educators, dance scientists and even dance enthusiast – how can we help you and your careers? We’re so fortunate to have awesome events throughout the summer to get us on track for the upcoming dance season.

Last night, I attended Dance Ontario’s speaker series, DanceON Series, and it made me think – what types of other events would benefit dancers in our community. Would you like to see more online seminars? Maybe a specific class or workshop? What about a gathering between dance teachers to share thoughts and questions about students and new trends we are seeing in our studios? Even things like timing – would you prefer an event during the weekday or at night on the weekend?

Drop us a comment below! 👇

We love to support you, your careers and the future of dance. Let’s stay connected ❤️

Pivot Dancer Recommends: Physio and Dance Science Books 📚

Come inside Dinah Hampson’s library as she goes through some of her favourite books. These books can help health care professionals, dance teachers and dancers with things like injury, cross-training, and of course, the science behind movement.

Check them out online!

Are there any other recommendations you’re interested in learning about? 🤔

⭐️Addie placed in the top 10 for 12/13 year olds across Canada in the Canadian Finals.

⭐️Emma was 2nd Overall in the Canadian finals for 14/15 year olds.

Both of them were also top in their groups.

Such a blast at Swansea School of Dance! Thanks for having Pivot Dancer’s Dinah Hampson join for an awesome Summer Intensive ☀️🧑‍🩰

Dinah joined the studio as a guest faculty member to teach students the importance of cross-training and injury prevention. Dinah and the students discussed how cross-training is different from dance and the reason why.

And what’s a good lesson without an analogy? Cooking = cross-training 🧑‍🍳 Cross-training is building the ingredients in a recipe. Things like flexibility, mobility, strength, power, endurance coordination are ingredients that make a fabulous final product - aka, their dancing and technique!

❤️
