🇨🇦 WAITING FOR PR? YOUR SPOUSE OR CHILD MAY STILL BE ABLE TO GET A VISITOR VISA.
One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is:
“My PR application is in process, so my spouse’s TRV will automatically be refused.”
That is NOT always true.
IRCC can still approve visitor visas (TRVs) for spouses and dependants even when a permanent residence application is already pending.
We are seeing many families apply for TRVs while waiting on:
✔️ Spousal Sponsorships
✔️ Express Entry Applications
✔️ H&C Applications
✔️ Refugee-Based PR Applications
✔️ PNP Applications
The key issue is usually something called “dual intent.”
This means the applicant can:
➡️ Intend to become a permanent resident in the future
AND
➡️ Still genuinely enter Canada temporarily as a visitor
Unfortunately, many applications are refused because they are not properly prepared or do not clearly explain the temporary purpose of travel.
Every case is different, and strong supporting documents can make a significant difference.
At Fouad Legal, we assist with:
• TRV Applications
• Visitor Visa Refusals
• Spousal Sponsorships
• Refugee Claims & Appeals
• Humanitarian & Compassionate Applications
• Permanent Residence Applications

Another successful outcome at the Refugee Protection Division in Toronto.
Fouad Legal is proud to share that we recently represented a refugee claimant from Jordan whose claim was accepted orally at the hearing before the Refugee Protection Division in Toronto.
This case involved risk based on sexual orientation and the fear of persecution if returned to the claimant’s home country. After hearing the evidence and testimony presented at the hearing, the Member granted protection on the spot.
Refugee hearings require careful preparation, strong documentary evidence, and credible testimony. Every successful result reflects the courage of the claimant in sharing deeply personal experiences, as well as the importance of experienced legal representation throughout the refugee process in Canada.
At Fouad Legal, we continue to represent individuals seeking refugee protection in claims involving persecution based on sexual orientation, political opinion, religion, domestic violence, and other protected grounds.
If you are looking for a refugee lawyer in Toronto or need help with a refugee claim, PRRA application, appeal, or humanitarian application, our office is here to help.

🚨 MMIGRATION UPDATE: Canada Fast-Tracks PR for 33,000 Workers 🇨🇦
Canada is making a major move to address labour shortages — and this could be a game-changer for temporary workers already in Canada.
The Government of Canada has announced a one-time initiative to accelerate Permanent Residence (PR) for up to 33,000 workers living in smaller and rural communities.
Here’s what you need to know 👇
✅ Up to 33,000 PR spots available across 2026–2027
✅ 20,000 workers targeted in 2026 alone
✅ Focus on temporary workers already contributing to Canada’s economy
✅ Priority for those in rural and smaller communities facing labour shortages
✅ Many applicants are already in the system — no new application may be required
This initiative recognizes workers who:
✔️ Have strong ties to their communities
✔️ Are paying taxes and working in in-demand sectors
✔️ Are helping build Canada’s economy from within
💡 WHY THIS MATTERS
Canada is shifting its immigration strategy — prioritizing in-Canada applicants and regional growth outside major cities. This is a clear signal that experience in Canada + community ties = a stronger pathway to PR.
⚠️ IMPORTANT:
This is a targeted, limited initiative. Not everyone will qualify, and eligibility depends on existing programs like PNPs, pilot programs, and regional pathways.
📞 Need help understanding if you qualify?

🔥 Friday Success Story at Fouad Legal 🔥
We’re proud to share a powerful win this week for one of our clients whose refugee claim was previously rejected by the Refugee Protection Division (RPD) based on an alleged Internal Flight Alternative (IFA) in Mexico.
After a thorough and strategic appeal, Monica Fouad, took the case to the Refugee Appeal Division (RAD)—and the result speaks for itself:
✅ The negative RPD decision was overturned
✅ The finding of a viable IFA was successfully challenged
✅ Most importantly, the RAD went further and recognized our client as a Convention Refugee
This outcome didn’t just stop removal—it secured protection.
Cases involving IFA findings are complex and often misunderstood. This decision highlights the importance of strong legal advocacy and precise legal arguments when challenging flawed RPD decisions.
If your refugee claim has been refused you may still have options.

⚽ Heading to Canada for the FIFA World Cup 2026? Make sure your travel documents are match-ready before kickoff!
If you’re planning to visit, understanding the difference between an ETA and a Visitor Visa is key 👇
✈️ ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization)
For travellers from visa-exempt countries flying into Canada. It’s a quick online process and often approved within minutes—ideal for short stays like attending World Cup matches.
📄 Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa)
Required for travellers from non visa-exempt countries. This application involves more documentation, biometrics, and longer processing times—so it’s important to apply well in advance.
🏆 Winning Strategy
ETA = Fast, simple, online approval
Visitor Visa = Detailed process that needs proper preparation and has lengthy processing times.
⚖️ Not sure which one applies to you?
As a Toronto-based law firm, we help visitors navigate Canadian immigration requirements with confidence—so you can focus on the game, not the paperwork.

SUCCESS FRIDAY: PRRA APPROVED – REMOVAL STOPPED
After nearly two decades in Canada, our client was suddenly facing removal.
Originally from Burundi, our client had their refugee claim refused years ago. Like many, they tried to move forward with their life—but in 2025, Canada Border Services Agency initiated removal proceedings and issued a Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA).
This was their last chance.
Our team took a different approach.
Instead of asking immigration officers to revisit or “re-weigh” the past refugee decision, we focused on what the law actually requires in a PRRA: a forward-looking assessment of risk.
We presented detailed evidence showing the ongoing and heightened risks they faces as a survivor of sexual violence, both in Burundi and based on their experiences in Canada.
The result?
✅ PRRA APPROVED
✅ Removal STOPPED
✅ Protection GRANTED
This case is an important reminder:
👉 A refused refugee claim is not the end of the road
👉 A well-prepared PRRA can save lives
👉 The right legal strategy makes all the difference
If you or someone you know has received a PRRA or is facing removal from Canada, time is critical.

🚨 Why Over 25% of Spousal Sponsorship Applications in Canada Don’t Get Processed 🚨
Did you know that more than 1 in 4 spousal sponsorship applications in Canada never even make it to processing? 😳
Recent data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada shows that about 27% of applications are returned as incomplete—meaning couples face delays, lost time, and unnecessary stress.
💡 The biggest issue? It’s not eligibility—it’s mistakes.
Many applications fail at the very first step (the “R10 completeness check”), often due to:
❌ Missing forms or documents
❌ Incorrect or missing signatures
❌ Unpaid or incorrect fees
❌ Missing translations
❌ Not following the official checklist
If your application is returned, it’s not processed at all—you have to start over. ⏳
📊 Meanwhile, properly completed applications can take 12–18 months to process, so avoidable errors can cost you months (or years) of separation.
✅ What you can do to avoid delays:
✔ Double-check every form and signature
✔ Follow the official checklist carefully
✔ Include complete relationship evidence
✔ Ensure all documents are translated properly
✔ Consider professional guidance
❤️ Reuniting with your spouse shouldn’t be delayed by simple mistakes.
If you’re planning to sponsor your partner—or already started your application—make sure it’s done right the first time.

🚨 Express Entry Is Getting More Competitive – What This Means for You (2026 Update) 🇨🇦
Canada’s Express Entry pool is growing — and competition is intensifying.
Recent data shows the pool has surpassed 233,000 candidates, even with thousands of invitations being issued. The key trend is clear:
📈 More candidates are entering the system faster than they are being invited.
🔍 What’s driving this increase?
• Smaller and more targeted draws
• Rising CRS cut-off scores
• A high concentration of candidates in competitive score ranges (especially 451–500)
• Continued global demand for Canadian permanent residence
At the same time, Canada is focusing more on category-based draws, including:
✔️ Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
✔️ Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
✔️ French-language proficiency
✔️ Priority occupations (e.g., healthcare, trades, STEM)
⚖️ Why this matters:
Express Entry is becoming increasingly selective. Being eligible is no longer enough — candidates must remain competitive within a growing pool of skilled applicants.
With CRS cut-offs trending higher, many candidates may experience longer wait times unless they actively improve their profiles.
💡 Key takeaway:
Success in Express Entry now depends on strategy, timing, and profile optimization.
📩 If you’re in the pool or considering applying, understanding how these changes affect your chances is critical.
