Time for a Crew update!

A few of you have been asking about handsome Crew and we figured it was the perfect way to start the weekend.

From his fosters - Crew is a super chill, wonderful guest in their home! He is an easy going guy who just loves life.

We want to help paint a picture for you. It’s a beautiful sunny fall morning here in Ontario. And we have the perfect girl to join you on your trip trips to the water.

🐾 Happy Tails, Pepper — now Grace! ❤️

Sometimes finding forever takes an unexpected turn.

After 18 months in her adoptive home, Pepper was returned following a recent allergy diagnosis. It was a big transition, but there was a familiar place waiting for her: her foster mom, Kayla, was happy to welcome her back while the search began again for the right family.

And then Beverly and Brian came along.

Recently retired, they had started looking for a companion for their dog Frankie, a Boxer/Dogo mix who had lost her canine companions last December. Dogs have always been a big part of their family — including some very big dogs! Over the years, they’ve shared their home with five Great Danes and a Doberman, so welcoming another large dog felt perfectly natural.

A meet and greet was arranged for Pepper and Frankie, and their energy matched beautifully. It wasn’t long before Pepper officially joined the family and received a new name for her new chapter: Grace. 🥹

Now Grace has a huge yard to enjoy, plenty of nearby trails to explore with her family, a canine companion by her side, and grandchildren who live close by and visit often. And, as we already knew about this sweet girl, she’s wonderful with them.

Most importantly, Grace is once again exactly where every dog deserves to be: well loved and living the dream.

After an unexpected change in her story, we couldn’t be happier to see this next chapter begin.

🐾 Happy Tails, Eddy! 🐾

Sometimes the best happy endings are worth waiting for. ❤️

Eddy arrived in our care in late June, travelling all the way from Northern Ontario. This big, fluffy boy quickly won over everyone he met, but before we could find his forever home, we needed to get some medical concerns investigated.

After several appointments with specialists (and plenty of patience!), we received some wonderful news: Eddy is doing well, and his biggest health goal now is simply shedding a few pounds.

Carmen and Alistair applied to adopt Eddy in mid-July. They had some travel plans coming up, and Eddy still had appointments ahead of him, but they were more than happy to wait until the timing was right.

And it was worth the wait.

The meet and greet went wonderfully, and Eddy has now been with his new family for three weeks! He’s already embracing his new life—camping, exploring his neighbourhood and enjoying all the adventures that come with being part of a family. 🥰

Happy Tails, sweet boy. We think you found exactly where you were meant to be.

🐾 Welcome Crew! 🐾

Sometimes, being in the right place at the right time can change everything for a dog.

We were recently contacted by one of our experienced fosters about Crew, whose owner is currently hospitalized and receiving palliative care. Crew has been staying with friends, but with no long-term option available, he was facing being surrendered to the local humane society with an uncertain future ahead.

Our team met and assessed Crew the very next day—and we knew this sweet boy deserved a second chance. ❤️

Crew is a lovely neutered Bernese Mountain Dog/Australian Shepherd mix who is extremely friendly and affectionate. He has great recall and, so far, has been an absolute sweetheart with everyone he meets.

While Crew was well cared for earlier in his life, over the past few years his exercise needs haven't been met and he is currently carrying quite a bit of extra weight. One of our first priorities will be getting him in for a full veterinary assessment, updating his vaccines and developing a plan to help him safely work towards a healthier weight.

For now, Crew is safe, surrounded by people who care about him, and beginning his next chapter.

We’re so grateful to the people who stepped up for Crew when he needed somewhere to turn—and to our foster who recognized that this boy deserved a chance.

✨ CHESTER — APPLICATIONS OPEN! ✨

You may remember Chester from a few weeks ago, when this handsome boy received an overwhelming amount of love and interest. We were so grateful to see so many people cheering him on! ❤️

But Chester is still waiting for the right match — and we know his perfect family is out there.

While he waits, Chester hasn’t been sitting still! His foster has been working hard alongside our trainer, Susanne (), and he’s making great progress with his impulse control, gate dashing and reactivity, particularly around cars. He’s a smart, happy boy who continues to learn and thrive with the right guidance.

So, what does Chester’s ideal forever home look like?
🐾 A securely fenced yard is a must. If Chester spots a squirrel, his instinct is to chase — and boy, can he run!

🐾 He LOVES other dogs and would be thrilled to have a playful canine companion. A home where he can enjoy regular pack walks and playtime with dog friends could also be a great fit.

🐾 Chester is amazing with kids and loves being part of the action. If your home is often filled with family and visitors, he’ll happily join in on the fun.

🐾 A cat-free home, please.

🐾 A quieter neighbourhood would be best for Chester as he continues working on his reactivity.

Chester is a joyful, affectionate boy with so much love to give. We would prefer a family with breed experience who can continue the wonderful work his foster and trainer have already started.

Chester is currently fostered in the GTA.

🍁 Maple Update! 🍁

What a difference a few days can make.

If you’ve been following along, you likely saw our newest arrival, Maple, who came into care late last week. At four years old, Maple is experiencing so many parts of life in a home for the first time — and this sweet girl is already showing us just how much potential she has.

For a dog coming from a mill, Maple is making amazing progress. She has adapted incredibly well to living in a home and is already housetrained and doing well with leash training. She’s still shy when meeting new people, but she’s comfortable with her foster mom and gaining confidence with the help of her older foster brother, Kody. 🐾

Having a calm, confident dog beside her is helping Maple learn that this new life is safe — and that being a dog can actually be pretty wonderful.

Today is another important step in her journey: Maple has her first vet appointment. Once we know more, we’ll make a plan for her spay and address any other medical needs that may be discovered.

And now, we’re beginning the search for Maple’s foster-to-adopt home.

Maple’s ideal family will have an older, confident dog who can continue to be her mentor. She would thrive in a quieter neighbourhood with structure, patience and people who are home more often than not and prepared to give her the guidance and training she needs as she continues adjusting to her new world.

A fenced yard is preferred, as Maple currently needs to be off leash to feel comfortable enough to eliminate.

There are still many things for Maple to learn, but every day we’re seeing a little more of the dog she is becoming.

She’s capable of being an amazing companion. She just needs someone willing to give her the time, security and encouragement to keep blossoming. 🌱
