Exercise can be a challenge for those that are struggling to function at all. Whether it’s due to an unexpected injury or illness that disrupts our current flow of life, a pre-existing injury or illness that is exhausting enough to manage on top of the demands of our life or just the fear and stress that exercise has been associated with in the past.
Exercise can feel hard and impossible.
We know it’s good for our health but how can it be when it feels like an additional stress or chore.
That’s why I created the Movement Maven Kinesiology. Kinesiology can help bridge the gap between rehab and function, function and fitness and fitness and performance.
Learning to feel empowered in our bodies especially with movement can feel like a daunting task BUT you don’t have to do it alone. With the right support, we can redefine what movement, function and health can mean to you to give you more time and energy back for the things you love. We use a trauma informed approach to give you autonomy and independence with movement with care.
If this resonates and you’re curious about what options there are for you, reach out and let’s build something together!

Pain sucks and it can be so hard and scary to explore movement when you feel like 2 steps forward results in 1 step back.
It can be scary and hard to see the benefits when every time you try to help yourself, it makes you sick or hurt.
Kinesiologists use exercise as medicine to help people understand how to start integrating movement into their lives to manage symptoms, build energy, manage set backs and ultimately…function better!!
A common experience I’ve seen in practice is that set backs are an amazing time to show people their progress. When we feel pain, it’s easy to feel like we’ve failed or gone backwards BUT it’s an amazing opportunity for me to show my patients the progress they’ve made!! Yes you’re in pain but is it as severe? Can you do more than you cool before even in pain? Do you understand your limitations and more importantly, what you can do better?!
There’s so much you can do to help yourself and it starts with finding the right support.
If this resonates with you, let’s connect!!!

Chronic pain doesn’t have to limit you from improving your quality of life. Our pain doesn’t always tell us the whole story of what we can do, what we are capable of and how we are limited. Exploring our function can help you build towards a happier and healthier life where you’re in control of your pain instead of the other way around.
Let’s talk if you want to take your life back and use movement to help you build your energy and capacity and improve your function.

What does working with a Kinesiologist look like? We bridge the gap between rehab and function, function and fitness. We can help you understand your symptoms, help you manage set backs and build more energy and consistency with exercise as medicine.
Time and time again, I see people in medical limbo looking for answers that just leads to more questions. I see fear of movement and ultimately, fear of living because everything feels scary, uncertain and stressful.
It doesn’t have to be! A Kinesiologist can be a valuable addition to your health care team to help you manage your quality of life and show you how to incorporate self management strategies safely even while we’re waiting for answers.

A big question I get from time to time is - What is a Kinesiologist anyway? We're here to break down what it is, but most importantly, what it can do for you!
Our profession is built on the the fact that EXERCISE IS MEDICINE. Exercise continues to be proven to reduce the risk of disease, illness and injury. The problem is, how do you administer it correctly for your body? Working with individuals like a personal trainer, Dietician, a Physiotherapist or Chiropractor has so many benefits! A kinesiologist is the person that can bring all of the elements together for you.
Kinesiologists focus on your WHOLE BODY including (but not limited to):
✔ Your pain areas
✔ Your movement dysfunctions
✔ Your return back to work or sport from an activity such as concussion, fracture, cardiovascular event etc…
✔ Improve your cardiovascular and respiratory fitness
✔ Your energy levels including your stamina
Most importantly, Kinesiologists will listen to your WHOLE STORY to determine where you came from and how we can move you forward. Visit the linkinbio to learn more!

The topic of "self care" has been getting quite the spotlight on social media. It was initially introduced to encourage healthy habits to preserve our overall well-being.🧖♀️ However, there have been some mixed messages on what self care actually means and some people mistake it as "self indulgence"
Self-indulgence is engaging in behaviors that are temporarily gratifying but have negative outcomes. It's a way to temporarily distract us and make us feel better for a short period of time like getting that extra glass of wine or impulse buying.
Self-care however is much more proactive and thinks about the long term effects. For example, giving yourself a rest day from your workouts will in the long term avoid burnout and fatigue and allow you to create a sustainable routine.
Make sure to listen to your body and create habits that will ultimately benefit you in the long term. You've got this!
Let me know what your favourite self care habit is in the comments below👇

Using sliders for your lunges is a fantastic way to introduce this exercise as your foot stays in contact with the floor! This allows a lot better balance when you're stepping back and makes it really effective for your glutes, hips and core.
An important aspect to the sliders though is to know where to effectively place your foot! Not too far forward and not too far back where you may lose the slider while doing the lunge.
Stay tuned for more information on the most common mistakes doing slider lunges in my next video!
