A look at the logo designs for Carv Projects, a Toronto-based woman-owned interior design studio.
The wordmark is bold in its contrasting shapes and unlikely curves.
The mark, a carved out shape reflective of the brand's name, is a custom luxury icon that's experiential, energetic, and progressive.

Your fave beige branding designer doesn’t care about accessibility.
Why are we still dropping fire emojis in their comments?

Creating your colour palette doesn’t just mean choosing “aesthetic colours that go together that give the vibe of your brand.”
The process is more nuanced than that.
Not only do we care about “vibe” and “feeling” and “brand,” we also care about accessibility and options for layering and design.
If you look at my photos above, you’ll see that not all colours in the same palette layered ONTO each other are created equal.
Slide 1: Yellow words on warm grey is slightly hard on the eyes.
Slide 2: Off-black on hot pink is iffy. Why? Because one trick I learned in design school was if a coloured design was converted to black and white and their tonalities cancelled each other out, then the coloured version of that design would likely not work either.
Slide 3: Type on colours look great. However, pinky-purple on olive and periwinkle might become inaccessible if my font weight was thin and delicate.
(This is why all elements of brand design must work together harmoniously.)
When designing, I try my absolute best to choose your palette so it best aligns with your brand, and so it can be used realistically.
I present my best options, but I do understand that colour feelings run deep and in the end, your final palette is ultimately your decision.

I disagree with designers who equate black, white, and beige to “luxury.”
Hermès Orange is real luxury. So is Tiffany Blue.
In my book, luxury is sophistication, and it’s the way colours are applied to the branding along with all other brand elements.
Anyway, I’ll get into it another day.
For now (and without context), pick ya poison.
1, 2, or 3?

Wordmark logo design for .club! 🤑
Every design decision is intentional and founded on the brand.
Last slide was the initial moodboard for the identity design direction.
A lot can happen during the design process. Fonts, logos, and colors change depending on how they work together and what we discover about the brand.

When I design branding, I curate the brand to a tee.
That means cutting out everything unnecessary, and only using elements that strategically 200% best represent the brand.
