I’m forever grateful for culture and knowledge keepers, and those that keep the pulse of our ancestors alive. Recently, I learned about a wonderful McMaster radio () show, No Hope No Fear, while sharing Underrated with the world. It features short stories of new and seasoned Yugoslav music, from there and from the diaspora.

It’s host, Berislav Sabolić, is one of those keepers. He’s a veritable encylopedia of music from the former , and I’m honoured that he invited me to chat more about life, music, and my connection to the land of my blood origin. He also manages , which is focused on the music, and not the politics of the Balkans. Those that know, know that that’s love.

New Music Day! 'Underrated' is now out and living its best life!

You can stream the track anywhere you listen to music, but I would humbly ask that you visit my Bandcamp page (http://vicadamo.bandcamp.com), and PWYW download the single, the instrumental, the original demo, and some sweet liner notes.

This track was written in the middle of the pandemic (assuming we're at the end of it) as a creative exercise in response to an quote:

"Imperfection charms me. Familiar things move me...a celebration of what we have instead of what we long for."

While she was speaking in the context of glamour, this exercise really locked me in on the concept of longing, and that which we long for, spiritually, physically, and aspirationally. The chorus is a meditation on the idea of ' ': "I know the rain is comin', before the light is shinin', it's so bright, so underrated." You'll hear some familiar layered guitars, a rhythm-driven groove, and a very introspective mood (what else?).

Shout out to Nicholas Lloyd-Kuzik, iomos marad, and the whole Producers' Circle crew for helping to keep the artistic fire, and the whole Red Leather Yellow Leather crew (Ryan Mash, Max Steinman, Daniel Porter, @, The Townships, Laura Shaw, Karina Marie), for fanning the flames.
