Last month, I received what would turn out to be one of the most challenging commissions: “Frankenstein’s creature, a blot upon the earth.”
After pointlessly trying to make a monster from literal ink blots, I finally sat down with the “Frankenstein” audiobook. If you’ve never read the actual book - you’re in for an incredible experience. It changed me. And it changed how I saw this project. Swipe for some rejected monsters. Thank you for this challenge, and here’s to more collaboration.

Angela’s Monster:
MATHEMATICS.
PASSIONATE. HAPPY.
SQUIRLEY.
ADHD.
As a daughter of mathematicians, I especially loved making this commission. And loved being frantic with my brush. Thank you, Angela, for sharing your imagination with mine!

This has got to be one of my immediate favourites from monster commissions this year. Bianca’s colourful, top-hat sporting, smoking unicorn. Thank you Bianca, for letting your imagination play with mine. Also thank you again, for your message, it put a huge smile on my face. 😁👹
This has got to be one of my very favourites this year. Bianca’s colourful, top-hat sporting, smoking unicorn. And Bianca’s heart-melting voice message when she opened it makes it a million times favouriter. Thank you Bianca, for letting your imagination play with mine. 👹😁

FULL CIRCLE MOMENT…
At ‘25, my first show as a monster artist, a young woman gave me prompts for what became one of my favourite monsters. I loved it so much, I remade it and showed it at this year’s Artist Project. Imagine my joy, when Vanessa, the original mastermind, showed up in my booth! We were both so thrilled to see each other; and Vanessa’s reaction to seeing her creation reimagined brought me to tears.
Today, Vanessa’s and my creation is proudly representing in the window of .ac in Quebec City (last slide). And it’s in good company! The pieces next to it are also imagined by last year’s visitors, and I’ll be sharing their evolutions in the days to come.
The more years and monsters go by, the more I realise how much I get out of these absurdly intangible connections with people. It’s really is a lifesource.
