Alan is a passionate mountaineer who channels over 30 years of climbing experience into his deeply reflective memoir in verse, “Reflections on Mountaineering: A Journey Through Life as Experienced in the Mountains.” A graduate of Horace Mann School, Harvard College, and Harvard Law School, he was also elected to the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Society in 1979, a testament to the same discipline and dedication that drives him up every summit.

In a collection of 148 narrative-style poems spanning rhyming, prose, and blank verse, his fifth edition masterwork captures the full spectrum of human emotion — awe, fear, fate, self-discovery, and the quiet wisdom found only at altitude. Born from three decades of climbing and learning from fellow mountaineers, these poems draw powerful parallels between life on the mountain and life as we all live it, making them as universal as they are extraordinary.
