With Raindrop Plaza complete, it’s finally time for landscaping at Rhodes! Split into two phases to help with costs, Phase 1 was fencing in the main floor unit courtyard and front yard planting. A hedge of yews line the sidewalk for privacy, with various low maintenance grasses and plants filing in the yard. Up next: A curved custom address sign will close in the corner and the same yews and ground cover will continue down the side to the back of the property. Now some patience for everything to grow!

The Rhodes Project – Addressing mobility while creating an appealing living space for active seniors 07/20/2022

One of the key motivating factors for Andrew & Philip in building The Rhodes Project is that the main floor unit is being personalized and customized for the needs of Andrew’s parents (Cathy & Al Mainprize); with particular focus on Cathy who lives with Ankylosing Spondylitis - aka: “AS” which progressively causes her spine to fuse. Moving from a multi-level townhome in the Toronto suburbs to Rhodes provides new opportunities for both Cathy and Al to enjoy and take full use of their space. In this video, Cathy & Al chat with Philip on the challenges they had finding space not only to suit Cathy’s immediate mobility needs and allow them to age-in-place, but also as active seniors looking to be part of a community close to city vibrancy and lifestyle amenities – and how the Rhodes project is meeting these needs and giving them excitement about their new home.

Seven residents associations appeal Toronto bylaw allowing backyard homes across the city 03/14/2022

NIMBY’ism at it’s best, or legitimate homeowner concerns?

Seven residents associations appeal Toronto bylaw allowing backyard homes across the city The group says they’re not against ‘garden suites’ but don’t want a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach, while affordable housing groups argue the appeal is homeowners resisting change.
