Who’s the smart one?

Her name was Favour.
She was invited by a man she trusted and he rāped her. She could not carry that pain, and she took her own life.

This is not an isolated story. Every single day in this country, girls and boys, women and men are assaulted in schools, in homes, at work, even in places of worship.

Most will never report it. Why would they, when justice in Nigeria goes to the highest bidder, and the police and the court meant to protect them are often part of the rot?

Favour did not fail. We failed her.
How many more names will we add to this list before something changes?

How many more girls will be told to stay silent, to "manage," to protect the name of the man who destroyed them?

The aggressor is not only the man but the system that emboldened him. As long as Nigeria is not returned to regional government, or divided into three or more manageable countries, this will continue to get worse.
