Rogue Farms
Rebuilding the connection between people and their food by farming beautiful veggies and flowers right here in Toronto
These curly green shoots are one of the shortest-lived treats of the season. Mildly garlicky, crisp, and incredibly versatile, they're perfect for pesto, grilling, stir-fries, pickling, or simply chopping into your favourite dishes.
They're only around for a few weeks each year, so now's the time to grab a bunch and enjoy this fleeting taste of early summer.
Find them this week at the market, fresh from the field. π

A huge thank you to for the wonderful article about Rogue Farms and the work we're doing to uncover overlooked food-producing spaces across the city. β€οΈ
One of the most common messages we've received since the article was published has been:
"Can you use my yard?"
Maybe!
We're always looking for opportunities to grow, harvest, and share more local food, but not every space is the right fit. Here's what we typically look for:
π Existing fruit trees, berry bushes, nut trees, or edible perennials. The weirder the better! Pawpaws, serviceberries, elderberries, mulberries, quince, hardy kiwi, and other unusual edibles are especially exciting. Existing food-producing spaces are our highest priority since we may be able to harvest from them this season.
βοΈ Sun β how much direct sunlight does the space receive?
π Soil β healthy soil makes a huge difference. If you're unsure, that's okay.
π§ Water access β a hose, outdoor tap, rainwater system, or other reliable water source is important. Bonus points if your WiFi reaches the growing area so we can automate irrigation.
π Location β we're primarily interested in Toronto and nearby communities.
π Space β anything from a small backyard food forest to a larger underused property could be a fit.
πΆ Access β can we easily access the space for planting, maintenance, and harvest?
π
Long-term availability β the longer we can steward a space, the more we can invest in it.

THEY'RE HERE.
The greenhouse tomatoes have officially arrived and they're tasting like summer.
Sweet, juicy, vine-ripened, and probably the closest thing Ontario has to edible sunshine right now.
Find them today at the Underpass Park Farmers' Market from 4:00β7:30 PM, along with strawberries, greens, asparagus, and all the other good stuff.
Come early if tomatoes are your thing. They tend to disappear suspiciously fast. π

ππΏ Weβre heading back to the Farnham Pawpaw Festival this Thanksgiving weekend!
Last year was absolutely wild. Non-stop crowds, constant tasting questions, and somehowβ¦ not even enough time for a p*e break π
So this year weβre looking for a pawpaw-loving human to join the adventure.
Weβre looking for someone who: β’ is free FridayβSunday on Thanksgiving weekend
β’ likes talking to people about weird fruit
β’ can help with booth sales, samples, and general festival chaos
β’ is ideally bilingual (English/French strongly preferred)
Heading to Montreal to visit family that weekend anyways? We can make that work, we're totally open to someone helping for just 1/2 days so we can occasionally escape for food/washroom breaks like civilized people.
Shared accommodation in Farnham is included, so you wonβt need to figure out lodging.
Expect: π₯ lots of pawpaw tasting
π a super busy/fun festival atmosphere
π road trip vibes
π¦ mildly feral fruit energy
π probably way too much talking about custard fruit
If this sounds like your kind of chaos, send us a message β¨
