Who doesn’t love this classic film about mafia, revenge, loyalty, and above all else … family. The Godfather is an epic story that we all know well. One of the great films of all time. We know every character, every scene, and even every classic line. Looking back did the Academy get it right by honouring it with the Best Picture Oscar?

There were many great film released in 1972. However, The Godfather took home the top prize at the Oscars and Cabaret nabbed 8 awards in total, including Best Director, Actress, and Supporting Actor. Did the Academy get it right? Those two classics got most of the praise that night, but what other films from ‘72 should have received more love?
