☠️🗡️ Watch Yer Head!! 🗡️☠️

Before the popular ‘The Legend of Sleepy Hollow’ by Washington Irving, there was the Dullahan, a terrifying type of Fae from Irish folklore believed to have inspired many of the headless horseman stories, and has no specific gender 🌈🎃🪾

The Dullahan rides a black horse or carriage while carrying their own severed head beneath one arm. They carry a whip made from a human spine to whip the eyes out of onlookers! When they stop riding, someone nearby is destined to die, they don’t speak much but if they call a person’s name, their fate is sealed 🕯️⚰️

In folklore, their wagon is adorned with funeral relics!

As with most of my drawings, I drew a lot of little details, including a pet crow, lanterns, bells, chains (so you’d hear them coming), rosemary sprigs (a herb associated with death and also my fave), a whimsical death clock, bones of victims, and bits of wood and little buddies collected along their travels. 🐦‍⬛🕷️⛓️‍💥

The layers of colours may look like paint on paint, but I thought it would be cool to represent the colours of the souls (or auras) the Dullahan has taken over the years!

⚡️After Hours: Toronto Sports Edition ⚡️

A Toronto/critter collection has been slowly building within the ~After Hours Universe~ over the years, but lately I’ve been leaning into what I grew up on and what seems to unite the city like no other.. sports! (I played competitive softball for 10 years and volleyball for 6!) 🥎🏐

With the kicking off a new series tonight ⚾️ and Toronto hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026 ⚽️ on the horizon, I’ve leaned into some characters you know and love and also created some new things to celebrate a love for ball!

We’re back open after spending time surrounded by our family, and so many crows on the west coast!

Always remember to say hi when you see a crow, and contrary to popular belief, you can make eye contact. As long as you’re a good person with good intentions, you’ll be respected🐦‍⬛🖤

This one’s for the little souls who found their way into our lives and changed it forever ❤️

Loyal and loving through the dark and the light, they stay by our side, happy with scratches, snuggles, and a snack or two.

This one represents our bulldog Rancor. When he was still around, we imagined every new scratch he got came from some quest in an alternate universe. We’d ask him “Rancors were you fighting the dragons again?!” And he’d just blink really hard a couple of times 🤣

In that life, we imagined it was the three of us wandering, with Rancor as our stout little guardian, our campfire comfort, and our traveling companion, and place of rest. A bound trio, sharing every adventure. 🗺️⚔️🐾
