Would you trust an unsupervised AI?

There are two main types of AI "learning", supervised and unsupervised. The main difference between these models is that a supervised AI is used to understand the relationship between inputs and outputs, whereas unsupervised is good at sifting through raw data to find patterns.

AI needs an immense amount of data to be trained properly. The bigger these models are, the more accurate the AI's output is. Where we run into problems is when that data is corrupted with incorrect information.

With traditional software, the work to produce a given result is well-known formulas and code. These formulas can be followed through logically and produce a repeatable result every time. Knowing how your system "thinks" allows you to identify mistakes and rectify them. Many Artificial Intelligences, on the other hand, work using a black box system. This means developers cannot peer into the "thought process" of the AI and makes finding mistakes and vulnerabilities much more difficult.
