The world’s biggest soccer tournament is here in Toronto 🇨🇦

And at Canada’s Hospital, we’re proud to be part of a moment that brings people together across our city, across our country, and across TeamUHN. From our hospital halls to the global stage, we’re bringing the energy and cheering on Team Canada all the way 🙌

Let’s go Canada! ⚽️🍁

What happens to blood after it's donated? 🩸

Follow the journey that donated blood takes with UHN's Blood Transfusion Laboratories. These labs are home to comprehensive, 24-hour blood transfusion services for all surgical and clinical programs across UHN. They oversee safe handling, storage, crossmatching, modifications and delivery of blood products to our patients.

This week is National Blood Donor Week. Although there continues to be an urgent need for blood donation across Canada, only a small percentage of the population donates. Learn more about becoming a donor and book your first appointment at: blood.ca

Take a look inside one of University Health Network and CAMH's collaborative studies.

Insulin is widely known for its role in regulating blood sugar, but it’s also active in the brain. Our researchers are exploring how it may influence circuits involved in the way we experience motivation, reward, and decision-making. This study could help us better understand and treat people living with mood disorders.

By bringing together our teams, research and resources, we’re unlocking new understandings of the brain-body connection and closing the gaps between physical and mental health care. 🧠💪

Artificial intelligence is transforming health care—and UHN is proud to be leading at the forefront.

At the announcement of Canada’s new AI strategy, Prime Minister of Canada Minister Mark Carney and Minister of AI & Digital Innovation Evan Solomon saw firsthand how TeamUHN is advancing a continuum of innovation—from AI already embedded in patient care to emergent research shaping the future of medicine.

Our clinicians and scientists showcased how AI is improving care today through remote patient monitoring, advanced transplant analytics, and surgical precision—while driving the next wave of discovery.

We’re honoured to work alongside the federal government to advance AI for All. Thank you for investing in innovation that will benefit patients across Canada and around the world.

It’s National Kinesiology Week!

At UHN we’re celebrating kinesiologists like Casey, who help patients improve movement, health, and quality of life. For Casey, supporting patients with chronic pain means creating a space where they feel heard and understood.

"Seeing patients regain independence and control over their life is what makes the work so meaningful,” says Casey.

This week, we recognize Casey, and all kinesiologists, making a difference every day.

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈

Every individual—regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, or expression—should be able to access care with confidence, feel supported in the workplace, and be treated with respect. Today, we raise this flag across all of our sites and hospitals to reaffirm this shared goal, and to celebrate the 2SLGBTQI+ community at UHN.

Thank you to every member of TeamUHN working to support inclusive, patient-centered care, including the dedicated teams at the Sexual and Gender Diversity in Cancer Care Committee at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and the 2SLGBTQI+ Neurology Clinic at Krembil Brain Institute.
