Today is our final open day of the Farm Store for the 2026 season, and we want to spend it with you.

This summer has been hard. You know that. We know that. But what has carried us through every difficult week has been this community. The people who showed up, who reached out, who chose to support a local farm even when the season got complicated.

That means more to us than we will ever be able to fully express.

Another storm rolled through last night. The winds took the roof off one of our greenhouses.

Our cut flower, vegetable gardens, and grain crops were hit again, as were so many farmers across our area who are dealing with the same losses right now.

We will get through this the way farmers always do, one day at a time.

We share this because we made a commitment when we started showing up on social media: to show the real picture of what running a greenhouse and farm looks like. Not just the beautiful blooms, the full CSA boxes, and the seedlings that go home every May to become someone's summer garden - but the storms, the losses, the decisions that keep you up at night, and the mornings when you walk out, assess the damage, and figure out what comes next.

Flower farming and greenhouse growing are often romanticized. We understand why; there is genuine beauty in this work, and we feel it every day.

However, there is also hail. There is flooding. There are roofs that come off in the night, crops that do not recover, and seasons that test everything you have. This has been one of those seasons, for us and for a lot of Alberta farm families right now. This work is hard, and this summer has been harder than most.

To everyone who has called, texted, or emailed this past week - Thank you! From the bottom of our hearts. This community has shown up for us in ways we will never forget.

To our Maple Park Farm community

We have some important news to share, and we want to share it the way we share everything. Honestly and directly.

Maple Park Farm will be closing the farm store for the remainder of the 2026 season. After the most recent storm, we assessed our gardens fully and made the decision that there is no recovery path for what remains of this growing season.

Our CSA members were notified personally yesterday, and their final delivery will be this Thursday.

As farmers, we do everything within our power to feed the soil and the plants and to produce an abundant harvest. Some things, however, are beyond our control. The winds, the rain, the storms that have defined this Alberta summer. We made this decision because it was the right one, not the easy one.

We know many of you have had a hard growing season too. You are not alone in this, and neither are we.

What continues: our cut flower program remains active for fall events and weddings. We have limited availability as most of our crop is already committed. Please email us at [email protected] if you're interested.

This Thursday July 30th is our final open day. We are open from 4pm to 8pm. All remaining artisan products are 25% off. Wineland Dressings, Taste of the Okanagan, Triple Smoke spices.

This week our flowers went to two very different places.

On Saturday, dahlias and lisianthus went to a bridal shower bloom bar: joy and celebration and the beginning of something.

On Monday, a sympathy basket featuring our flowers and BC flowers went to a family in our community who lost someone.

Flowers are for all of it. The celebrations and the goodbyes. The moments when words aren't enough, and something living and beautiful says what nothing else quite can.

We are grateful that Maple Park Farm flowers could hold space for both this week.

In the middle of a hard season, something beautiful happened on Saturday.

Dahlias, lisianthus, green ball dianthus and carnations from our greenhouse-grown cut flowers were picked up for a bridal shower bloom bar for a special young lady that we have had the pleasure of watching grow up.

Watching those flowers leave the farm for her celebration, even this week, even after the flooding, winds, hail and the u-pick decision and another storm Saturday night, was a reminder of exactly why we grow what we grow.

The storm pushed open one of our roof vents, bending the shaft Saturday night. Kent had it fixed by Sunday afternoon. The grain crops took more hail damage. And through all of it, the greenhouse flowers keep blooming.

We have some hard news to share this week, and we want to share it here too.

We have cancelled our cut flower u-picks for the rest of the 2026 season.

The flooding has been too significant, and the damaging winds Saturday night were the last straw. Our cut flower fields were hit hardest, and there is simply no saving those gardens this year.

We have updated our website events page to reflect this.

If you were looking forward to a u-pick this summer, we are truly sorry. We looked forward to it too.

We have kept our hours tight this year to match what we feel our gardens can genuinely deliver after a difficult start to the growing season.

Yesterday was everything we hoped it would be.

Thank you to everyone who came through the farm store on opening day and to our CSA members who picked up their first veggie boxes.

Seeing this community show up after a tough spring meant more than we can say.

If you didn't make it yesterday, we are back open tomorrow, Saturday, July 18th, from 9am to noon.

This week, we also want to introduce you to some of the artisan products we're carrying this season.

We made a deliberate choice to stock items that are Canadian-made, mostly from small-batch producers in Alberta and BC, because we believe in the same thing for food that we believe in for flowers and vegetables: knowing where it came from and who made it.
