We're back!!! School starts next week, and for the grade 9's, that can be pretty scary. Luckily, we have an amazing orientation day planned for you on SEPTEMBER 1, 2021 (this Wednesday!!!), from 12:30-2:30PM! With games, tours, AND snacks, this is something you won't want to miss - especially if you are a fan of prizes :) All information is on the graphics below, and the link to register is here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScpIBL0kw18-BlQUK5ppqkwflB9yMGZBvgIbw-bI3zcyB0TRw/viewform

Things to keep in mind:
*you will have to complete your covid-19 screening, wear a mask, and abide by safety guidelines - as a result of the covid guidelines, we will not be able to accommodate for parents and other family members.
*this is an event for incoming grade 9's ONLY.
*THIS IS NOT A DROP-IN EVENT - you must register in advance so we know how many students to expect, and how much supplies to buy, etc.

Share this with friends and families who have students starting TSS this year. We can't wait to see all the new faces there!!!

Happy National Walking the Dog Day!! To commemorate this day, your student council has put together an event sure to make your pets ecstatic. Above, you will find a list of photographs (11 in total). Your job is to find these locations around the city of Thorold throughout the next week. Once you do that, you must take a picture BY YOURSELF in order to be entered into the draw for a $20 Amazon Gift Card. Every selfie taken grants you one entry. If any of your pictures include another person, you will be disqualified and unable to participate in the draw (unless the picture includes someone you live with). Send in all covid-friendly photos through either Instagram or Facebook DMs.

May the odds be ever in your favour.

All will be revealed soon.

Good afternoon Golden Eagles!! The spirit for today was awesome, and we look forward to seeing more throughout the week. Just a heads up that starting tomorrow, different spirit days have been assigned as a way to make it more inclusive for those who don't celebrate Christmas.

Wednesday - Tacky Clothes Day
Thursday - Crazy Sock Day
Friday - Colour Wars (9s - yellow, 10s - green, 11s - blue, 12s red, and teachers - purple!)

Tomorrow is our talent show, so be sure you don't scroll past. In addition, the Christmas card drive is continuing until Thursday. All submissions must be handed in to the basket outside of Mr. Dhami's room (241) by Thursday, December 17th in order to lift the spirits of someone in need.

UPDATE: All letters can be submitted outside of Mr. Dhami's room (241) in the Christmas bin outside. An email was sent out last week regarding what can be put in the letters, and an example is listed below.

This year, we have all experienced what it's like to feel alone. We were in quarantine for months, unable to see our families and friends, unless we wanted to waste our phone batteries to spend hours talking to them. But the connection wasn't the same. We still felt alone, maybe because we couldn't hug them or because their presence didn't feel quite the same. While the feelings have started to fade, replaced by the excitement we feel towards the holidays, some of us are still feeling isolated. Over 300 women are in the shelters over Christmas, likely unable to spend time with their families. They are going to feel more alone than ever, and it is up to us to make sure that they don't.

How might you ask?

Well, all it takes is one (or more) handwritten letters, personalized by you. Want to know what to put in it?

- add only your first name
- put in an inspirational quote, a heartwarming message, etc.
- include your favourite song lyric or poem verse
- draw a picture, add stickers or glitter, make it festive
- write on any type of paper you want, or use a store-bought card
- personalize an envelope too!

A box will be set up later in the week for collections, and an update will be provided as to where you can drop them off.

Happy holidays, and don't miss the opportunity to make someone smile this Christmas.
