The Sunset House ☀️

The morning light paints the floor in red and blue from the stained glass window. In the dark, the light from the Fort Point lighthouse shines in across the walls.

Every single window was placed with meaning so you have a framed view of something beautiful.

The architecture is so unique - the curved railing, the spiral staircase, the exposed wooden beams across the ceiling.

And maybe this is a given, but what a perfect spot to watch the sun go down. You’ll be timing your days around sunset to make it back in time.

Thank you for this amazing stay ❤️

Looking to book a fall getaway? Then check out the new Birchy Island Boathouse, located in Swift Current, NL 🍁

Our stay included: kayaks, watching tuna jump in front of our window, cozy movie nights, an amazing standalone tub and tiled shower, fishing rods, and bikes 🚣

We’ve never had a stay so close to the ocean - the tide falls and rises right up to meet the front deck 🌊

If you’re looking for a cozy place to spend a night or weekend, this is it!

Welcome to the Saltwater Manor ⛵️🏠

We just spent a weekend in a beautiful home by the sea, watching countless sailboats pass by and fish jumping everywhere. We were also joined by our wonderful friends for supper and a night of fun 💃🏼

This place sleeps TWELVE people and is a fantastic place for hosting get togethers. My favorite features are the hot tub, the direct access to the ocean, huge bedrooms, and a real fireplace. Also, check out Murray’s Peak and George Cove Mountain for some nearby quick/fun hikes.

It’s time to grab a bunch of your closest friends and head to Holyrood for a weekend getaway right outside of town 🍹

Here are 10 of my favorite hikes in Newfoundland that I think you should do 🥾🌿

Western: Lookout Trail, Tablelands Off-Trail, Green Gardens

Central: Skerwink Trail, Alexander Murray’s Trail, Lower Little Harbour Trail (part of the Rockcut trail system)

Eastern: Cape Spear Path, La Manche, Cobblers Path, Sugarloaf Path

The first picture is Spout Path (6-8 hours, 16.2 km) located in Eastern :)

Let me know what ones I’ve missed that you think are a must do 🌲🚶⛰️

Fun fact – we lived in Burin for a year and a half 😊 The entire peninsula is beautiful and FULL of things to do! It is often skipped by people not willing to take the trip down off the TCH, but don’t miss out on it!

Reliving all our memories to bring you a quick guide on the top things to do on the Burin Peninsula!

**Some of these places will require a 4x4 vehicle: Tides Cove Point, Corbin, Fortune Head Ecological Reserve, Croney Island Lookout

Fjords, wilderness, and the ocean - “isolated and loving it” is this small Newfoundland town’s motto, located on the south coast of the island ⛰️

Here’s what you’re going to do when you jump off the ferry:

*walk to the Rencontre Lake fjord hidden in the back of the town (maybe a local will take you up through in their boat!)
*visit the colorful fishing sheds along the waterfront
*get an ice cream or takeout from DD’s or Baby Moos Cafe
*walk to the lookout to get a panoramic view of the town
*walk the boardwalk around Downton’s pond
*go beachcombing
*go swimming at “The Rails” and bring your fishing rod
*visit the rhubarb heritage garden - a 150 year old rhubarb patch for the whole town to pick and enjoy

You can do Rencontre East as a day trip but I highly recommend staying at least one night (we did two). If you’d like to know where to stay while you’re there, send me a message ⛴️

* The main bathroom which has a yellow claw foot tub!! And a towel warmer!! Amazing 💛

I had one of the best snorkels EVER yesterday @ Beachy Cove! 🤿 There was so much activity from all the fish out munching on the capelin eggs that are left around 🐟 so happy to see some winter skates 🥹 here’s some descriptions of the pictures and videos:

1. A curious sculpin
2. A majestic winter skate gliding along
3. A lobster pot on the bottom (video slightly ruined by briny water)
4. A whole sandy patch of flounders! I’ve never seen so many in my life (each little shape under the sand is a fish)!
5. A view of another winter skate from the surface
6. Cunners everywhereeee
7. Flounder close up + sea urchin
