Creek crossings are always a bit of an enigma. What’s going to keep the cattle in? What’s going to keep them from trying to scoot around the ends or swim the creek and also work with the layout of the bank and the creek edge? The answer? Sucker rod! It’s pliable enough to bend with the land but heavy enough and sturdy enough to help add strength to the crossing. Thanks for donning the hip waders Lincoln Nikkel!

First branding of the 2018 season. Nice looking crop of heifer calves and a pretty good branding crew too! Always so thankful for all the hands that come to get the job done.

Well one positive about this cold weather - it sure is easier to fence a slough when it's frozen! Yep, just because it's winter and there's a nasty windchill, doesn't mean the work stops. Glen Kerr's sloughs are probable the easiest to deal with at this stage, so guess what Saturday afternoon's job was!

My phone keeps telling me that people keep "viewing" this page...then I see it last had an update on May 20, 2014! Haha! Happy May! Finally, I think the nice weather is here to stay! Which means, Round-Up 2014 is just around the corner! Riding and east creek branding on Friday, June 13th with the main herd branding on Saturday, June 14th. Ride out Saturday morning is at 5:00am with breakfast at Curt and Julie's around 7:00/7:30am. Also, between now and the main herd branding we process/brand and ship smaller herds out to pasture so if that is something that you are interested in, you are always welcome to join us! Good food, good times and lots of fun to be had! It's that time of year again - Spring is proving itself all around us and we've got our first calf on the ground! And to the rest of you also calving, stay safe out there!

First Team Roping Canada roping this weekend at the Super Six in Olds, Alberta for our 4-year old Playgun's SweetieBelle, rode by Joe Martens and Chris Martens. Looking forward to watching her work in a competitive environment - This quiet little lady is full of talent!
