Drug Strategy Action Committee

DSAC has had a longstanding and valued partnership with Pharmasave in Swift Current. The staff & healthcare professionals at Pharmasave are not only trained to handle issues in mental health & addiction but more importantly often provide resources, information and connections to other supports locally that both individuals struggling and their loved ones desperately need and find immensely helpful. The healthcare professionals at our local pharmacies help provide front line supports to many in need in our community and this is our opportunity to provide first hand perspective into the work they do and assistance they provide.

A huge thank you to Rachel for not only being a dedicated knowledgeable pharmacist at Pharmasave, but also an active member on the DSAC Board of Directors. Rachel’s willingness to share her unique perspective and experiences with mental health & addictions locally is fundamental to our advocacy work.

In our original video series Andrea Miller shared her story, her experiences and advice as her daughter Eden struggled with addiction and was ultimately on the road to recovery. Fast forward several years, Eden not only beat the odds and was living her best sober life but was an inspiration to others. Just when everything seemed right Andrea received the news that Eden tragically passed away in a car accident. Andrea shares her story of Eden’s triumph over addiction, her loss of life and advice as a seasoned veteran/parent in the world of addiction. It’s heartfelt, powerful and a statement every parent, loved one and person struggling needs to hear.

Regina first responders have been inundated with overdose calls this month. With trends from the larger centers tending to pop up in the Southwest shortly thereafter we want to send out a warning and remind everyone to carry naloxone and never use alone. Remember the Good Samaritan act protects you in case of calling 911 for an overdose.

When crisis erupts and you call in an emergency during an overdose Hutch Ambulance answers the call. They work tirelessly in our community to help people and their loved ones as they struggle during crisis with addiction & mental health. This video highlights Cam Hutchinson sharing a powerful message on the impact the overdose epidemic is having in Southwest SK from a first responders point of view.
