There are fewer than 200 Greater Sage Grouse left in Canada.
Once, their spring mating dance was a defining part of life on the prairie. Today, it’s close to disappearing.
In Grasslands National Park, people are working to restore the habitat—bringing back native grasses and rebuilding something that took generations to form.
Spending time out there, it makes you think…
how easy it is for things to slip away—
and how much effort it takes to bring them back.
Not just in nature, but in our own lives too.
A couple of years ago we visited the park and we given access to the restoration work. The result is this short film.

Movement on the prairie.
I recently spent two days in Grasslands National Park with dancer Robin Poitras of New Dance Horizons exploring a pivotal scene for my upcoming short film, The Perfection of the Morning, inspired by Sharon Butala’s Number 1 selling memoir.
The exploration helped shape how this transformation moment will ultimately be filmed directly on the prairie landscape.
Grateful to SK Arts for supporting this work.

Prairie Rattlesnake Grasslands National Park Adventure Explore Grasslands National Park and experience the thrill of encountering rattlesnakes in their natural habitat.
Where does the work really come from?
Not the camera. Not the gear.
But the quiet place inside…
Lately I’ve been learning to open differently.
To soften, listen, and let the work move through me.
If you’re someone who loves the inner side of creativity —
intuition, reflection, the part we rarely talk about —
this is for you.
I wrote a new reflection about opening to the work.
