You've probably heard the saying, ‘never wake a sleeping baby,’ but there are times when you may need to! ☝️

Babies don’t have the same sleep cycles as adults, and they don't always know the right time to wake up, eat, or go to bed. As they develop, they will learn to tell the difference between night and day, which will, in turn, help you to establish a good sleep routine.

Thumb-sucking... yes 👍 or no 👎 ?

Let's talk about it!

Thumb-sucking can be a great way for babies to self-soothe, as they have natural rooting and sucking reflexes. At WeeSleep, we neither encourage nor discourage it for sleep purposes, as it is really up to the baby!

Some parents are concerned their baby may become a thumb sucker if they no longer have a pacifier. Most babies do not start thumb-sucking in replacement of a pacifier; if they do, it can still be a great way to soothe. 🤍

When your little one is older, thumb-sucking may impact development, and you'll eventually want to teach them to find other ways to settle.

As many of our clients can attest, the GRO Clock or a ready-to-wake clock, is a fantastic tool when working with toddlers. ⏰

GRO clocks are designed to help toddlers and preschoolers understand when it’s time to get out of bed. And, when used correctly, it will encourage your early riser to get some extra shuteye.

How does it work? When your child goes to bed, set the clock to ‘wake up’ at a specific time. When your child should be sleeping, the face of the clock will have a blue star on it. When it’s their ‘wake up’ time, the star turns into a yellow sun. ☀️ It’s a great visual way to explain time to children!
