Don’t let "summer vacation brain" cost you 5% (or more) of your tax bill! ☀️📉
It’s that time of year again, property tax notices are arriving in mailboxes across the Fraser Valley.
While we’re all focused on the sun, there’s one date you definitely want to circle on your calendar: Thursday, July 2, 2026. 🗓️
A friendly reminder: Even if your taxes are rolled into your mortgage, you still have to apply for your BC Home Owner Grant every single year. The bank handles the payment, but only you can claim that reduction from the Province of BC.
✨Here is what you need to know for 2026:
🔹 Due Date: Thursday, July 2nd.
🔹 The Penalty: Most municipalities (like the City of Surrey and Township of Langley) add a 5% penalty immediately after the deadline, with another 5% usually added in September.
🔹 The Pro-Tip: If you haven’t seen your notice in the mail by the second week of June, give your local municipal hall a shout. "I didn't get it" won't save you from that late fee! 📞
