Summer ‘26 Visual Art Spotlight: Tatiana Catalina
Tatiana Catalina is a Calgary based artist whose work takes inspiration from Traditional style tattoos. Serving in the Canadian Armed Forces directly influenced one of her defining pieces — a panther surrounded by flowers — where bold pigments and soft florals coexist in striking balance. During her service, she was introduced to Traditional tattoos through the shared culture of expression among navy sailors, drawing inspiration from bold lines and symbolic imagery, which she translates into acrylic paintings.

Summer ‘26 Visual Art Spotlight: Diego Minor Martinez
A returning contributor at pulp MAG, Diego Minor Martínez is a writer, photographer, filmmaker, and musician from Tlaxcala, México. Their work centers on representing Latin American culture and highlighting the challenges faced by immigrants. Diego is the recipient of the 2019 FIC Monterrey Scholarship from Vancouver Film School. Currently, they serve as a Student Assistant at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, where they are pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Creative Writing.

Summer ‘26 Visual Art Spotlight: Anna Po
Anna Po is an emerging artist working in monotype, collage, and mixed media. Her Dancing Flowers series (2025) began as a way to preserve and rework prints with striking color and texture that felt incomplete on their own. Using recycled materials—including discarded prints, ghost prints, and fabric offcuts—she create layered abstract compositions that explore movement of fragments and the potential of overlooked materials, with an emphasis on reuse and reducing waste.

Summer ‘26 Prose Spotlight: Jean Paul Vizuete
Jean Paul Vizuete is a Vancouver-based Panamanian writer and filmmaker specializing in speculative fiction. He holds degrees from Universidad del Cine in Argentina and Vancouver Film School, and serves as Programming Director for the HAYAH International Short Film Festival. His storytelling explores mental health and the human condition, as seen in his novel The Elven Messenger and his film Memory (2025). He is currently developing the TV series Arpía, winner of the 2024 Panama National Film Fund, the feature Between the Sky, and his next novel, The Light Thief. His next short film, A Friend, is slated for release in 2026.

Summer ‘26 Poetry Spotlight: Maggie May
Maggie May is a first-year creative writing student at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. She loves reading and writing poetry, fiction, and non-fiction, in a wide range of genres, mainly focusing on everyday life. She currently spends her time in between Richmond and her hometown of Fort St John, BC. Her goal in life is to make and publish art in every medium she enjoys, including poetry, prose, drama, and film.

Summer ‘26 Poetry Spotlight: Paul Costa
Paul Edward Costa is an award-winning poet and spoken word artist. He directs Toronto's Outer Haven Poetry Night series, is a full member of the League of Canadian Poets, and is a former Poet Laureate for the City of Mississauga. He has published in many journals such as The Stanziac Journal and The White Wall Review. He’s published books with DarkWinter Press, Mosaic Press, and Kung Fu Treachery Press. He has featured at many poetry reading events including Art Bar, Shab-e She’r, and VersDeli. He won the 2019 Emerging Literary Arts award from the Mississauga Arts Council.
