Basic Human Needs

Every year we throw a birthday party for our students all together. We do this because many of our students don't know when their birthday is. Each child is made to feel special and appreciated. Every child matters to us. Special thanks to all our staff and volunteers for making this happen.

This week we are starting a small project at home to replace the sagging and termite-eaten roof outside in front of the house. It will also be our first attempt at curing bamboo with BORAX and BORIC ACID. We dug a big hole to soak it in, too. The boys will also be making an outdoor kitchen area in the backyard. The Dharikar People are traditionally bamboo craftsmen, usually weaving bamboo baskets and kitchen utensils to sell in the local markets.

Today everyone at the Dharikar Camp joined together to hoist the Indian Flag and sing the national anthem. Sweets were shared and then breakfast was given to all children. Special thanks to the Live for Life program for providing the breakfast.

Early morning camp breakfast is becoming our favourite time of the day to meet with our Dharikar kids and check health and progress. Thank you so much to Learn For Life for providing the brekkies these days. Such a treat!
