More than 30 purchasers of units in Burnaby’s Eclipse development are asking the court to cancel their pre-sale contracts after the project became insolvent. At the same time, creditors argue the agreements should remain enforceable as part of the restructuring process.

At the centre of the dispute is a key question: should buyers be protected when developers fail to disclose serious financial issues, or should creditor protection laws take priority?

🚨 A Richmond-based mortgage lender is facing multiple lawsuits after investors allege millions of dollars were not returned and that key risks tied to a major Surrey development were not properly disclosed.

At the centre of the controversy is a proposed 67-storey residential tower near Surrey Central SkyTrain station, where investors claim a large portion of funds was concentrated in a single high-risk project.
