This is Artist’s Palette in Death Valley, where the hills explode in surreal shades of teal, purple, and rust. But this isn’t just pretty… it’s geology in action.

Those colors come from oxidized metals in the rock—iron creates reds and purples, while minerals like copper give off those vibrant blues and greens. In other words, this landscape is basically a chemical masterpiece millions of years in the making.

Proof that rocks aren’t boring… they just needed better lighting. (This pre-sunrise lighting was pretty sweet!)
