Piano Rocks

I love teaching. It's not just a career for me but a vocation. I've been teaching piano now on the White Rock peninsula and in Vancouver for over twenty-five years and have watched countless children grow their love of music.

My studio is geared toward creating an individualized relationship with your child and lessons where learning to read music is fun and dynamic.

If you remember piano lessons as dry, stodgy half hour sessions filled with music you didn't want to play and teachers who seemed permanently disapproving, my methodology is the exact opposite.

I was trained as a Royal Conservatory competitive pianist and while there are wonderful rewards that result from this type of training for students who are eager to commit long hours to this kind of study, my biggest passion is to help children foster their inborn love of music, help them to read music competently so that they can eventually have access to the levels and styles of music that THEY are interested in learning.

Classic rock? Sure. Disney collections? Why not. An entire medley of Star Wars music? If there isn't one we can create one. Is there a Youtuber that you love? Let's download their music and learn it.

I offer children a strong foundation in learning the skills they need so that as they grow with their music they will want to play the piano for life, not just as an activity to focus on for a few years. Many of my students stay with me from elementary school all the way through graduation and along the way often pick up a number of other instruments like guitar, drums or other band instruments.

If your child is interested in trying out the piano and wants to have fun doing it this is my wheelhouse.

I will travel to your home and I am accepting students for the fall 2021 semester for one-on-one, in person classes.

I am also offering summer classes for kids and parents who would like to get a jump on the fall semester, as well as kids who are looking to see whether the piano is for them. I am offering blocks of four classes, with the fourth class free when you sign up. Summer class days and times are flexible in order to accommodate holiday trips.
