I help businesses become the one & only of their kind, using words as weapons of mass distinction.

It all comes down to a
Prospects choose you (or don't) based on the way you make them feel.
The truth is, we are all finicky prospects. The smallest of things can sway our thoughts and make us pull away.
The best way to mitigate this is by mapping out your prospects' experience with you in detail, right from the first interaction.
Most businesses make no such effort.
They aren't deliberate about the experience they create. They make little to no effort to shape it โ allowing random and external circumstances to influence their prospects' sentiments.
If you want to create an environment where you're in control, start by downloading my free ebooks "The Art of Standing Out" and "Differentiation Done Right" (links are in the comments section below).

Most businesses do little to distinguish themselves from competitors. They appear to prospects as substitutable commodities, instead of the flip-side:
So, how do you go from an indistinguishable ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ to a valued ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐?
Businesses tend to say many things across their websites and marketing channels (the ๐จ๐๐ข๐ things competitors say). And little (if any) of it is meaningfully conveyed or developed.
Please โ stop spewing vague generalities. They carry no weight.
Fewer things โ communicated more thoughtfully โ will always have greater impact.
So here's some parting advice:
Decide ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐๐ผ ๐ฏ๐ฒ ๐ธ๐ป๐ผ๐๐ป ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ (just ONE thing), and then take complete ownership of it through your marketing.
Put it into ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฐ๐๐ for your prospects... otherwise they won't see it.

People are entitled to their opinions...
..and you are entitled to ๐ช๐จ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฆ them.
Many people talk about subjects they know nothing about, simply because they want to appear smart.
Most have deeply ingrained biases that cloud their judgment and perspective.
Others simply don't want you to achieve greater success than them.
This is why, when you're trying to achieve something that's never been done, goes against the grain, or sets you apart from everyone else, you must be
You must be willing to accept criticism and dismissal.
Many laughed when Walt Disney proposed the idea of a theme park built around cartoon characters. Or when Jeff Bezos quit his Wall Street job to sell books online.
Heck, 12 publishers turned down J.K. Rowling before Harry Potter took off.
Not every idea is a good one, of course. But outside criticism is an insufficient barometer for making that determination.
If you really, truly, genuinely believe in something, don't hold back...
Take a big swing. The only two outcomes are success or a learning experience.

Many service-based businesses have a false sense of security.
If asked what sets them apart from their competition, they typically respond with some version of "We do good work."
This may refer to quality. It may refer to service.
In any case, it doesn't matter much. Because the truth is, the competition โ in most cases โ performs at or near the same level (indiscernible as far as the customer is concerned).
So what businesses think sets them apart is nothing more than wishful thinking. Doing a "good job" isn't a differentiator. It's simply the ante for being in the game.
Differentiation rarely happens by accident.
You must be intentional about it and take deliberate steps to create it.
Yes, this takes some effort. It takes some strategy. But it's not complicated...
..and the juice is worth the squeeze.

Many things can eat away at a brandโs credibility, causing "๐ง๐ฟ๐๐๐ ๐ฅ๐๐๐" โ "๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ด๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐ฃ๐ณ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐ค๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ช๐ฃ๐ช๐ญ๐ช๐ต๐บ ๐ค๐ข๐ถ๐ด๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ฃ๐บ ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ด๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ต๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ฎ๐ข๐ณ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ต๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ค๐ญ๐ข๐ช๐ฎ๐ด, ๐ง๐ถ๐ฎ๐ฃ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ฆ๐น๐ฆ๐ค๐ถ๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ, ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐ฑ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ณ ๐ข๐ต๐ต๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ต๐ข๐ช๐ญ."
For instance, businesses often lay claim to things not because they are genuinely true, but because they like the way it sounds.
I'm talking about generic claims like:
-Or-
This sort of speak is commonplace now. But with everyone saying it, it cannot be true.
Talk is cheap. You need to either purge your messaging of this sort of talk, or find a way to prove it (if it is genuinely true).
In my FREE eBook, "๐ญ๐ฏ ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฃ๐๐ข๐๐ฉ๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐จ ๐๐ค๐ง ๐๐ญ๐ฅ๐ก๐ค๐จ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ก๐๐จ ๐๐ง๐ค๐ฌ๐ฉ๐", I share several ways in which you can prove your claims and create trust (link is in the comments sections below).

Heath Ledger's Joker in ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ฌ ๐๐ฏ๐ช๐จ๐ฉ๐ต was a mad lunatic.
But he was also brilliant. And his words could be deceivingly profound in some instances, like when he said "๐๐๐ฎ ๐จ๐ค ๐จ๐๐ง๐๐ค๐ช๐จ?".
This happens to be a worthwhile question in relation to marketing.
I'm not suggesting you act like the Joker. But a little personality and character can serve your marketing well, when you're trying to build a connection with your audience.
Businesses often take themselves too seriously. And their communication ("About" pages are a prime example) is correspondingly corporate and institutional sounding, which is
Heath Ledger's Joker was anything but, which is why we're still talking about him over 17 years later. That's a lasting impression...
..and all he did was be himself.

The vast majority of advertising from service-based businesses is severely flawed.
That's because it contains no
The only discernible difference between one competitor's ads and another's tends to be
Everything else is mostly interchangeable.
I call this "๐๐ฆ ๐๐น๐ช๐ด๐ต" Advertising. It essentially says "We're here... this is what we do".
What it doesn't say is And why should they, when there are multiple others who offer the exact same thing(s)?
The market doesn't need another "๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฆ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐ฎ๐ข๐ฏ๐บ". It needs a "๐๐ฏ๐ฆ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐ฏ๐ญ๐บ" (or "Double-๐ข", as I say๐).

Because ๐ด๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ advertising is about the ๐ฑ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ด๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ค๐ต, not the advertiser.

There's a tendency for businesses to model their marketing efforts on others โ often their competitors. The thought being "๐ช๐ง ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ๐บ'๐ณ๐ฆ ๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ช๐ด, ๐ธ๐ฆ ๐ด๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ญ๐ฅ ๐ฃ๐ฆ ๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ช๐ต ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฐ."
This creates mass commoditization of the market; the perception that everyone is more or less the same.
So don't try to be like everyone else. Lean into that, not away from it, as most do.
My free ebook "๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ณ๐ต ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐ต๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ถ๐ต" can show you how (link to download is in the comments sections below).

A common marketing mistake is to focus on the prospect's ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ instead of their ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐๐.
Needs are a ๐ณ๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ buying motive, while wants are ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ.
This distinction matters, because ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ผ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฒ๐บ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, and ๐ท๐๐๐๐ถ๐ณ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐บ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐น๐ผ๐ด๐ถ๐ฐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด. For instance...
You may ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅ a new car, but you really ๐ธ๐ข๐ฏ๐ต to get the fancy sport package that will impress your friends and neighbours.
You may ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅ to lose weight for health reasons, but what you really ๐ธ๐ข๐ฏ๐ต is a beach body that turns heads and gets people talking.
You may ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅ a new software to boost your productivity and performance at work, but what you ultimately ๐ธ๐ข๐ฏ๐ต is to receive recognition and a promotion with a fancy new title.
Thatโs why selling something by catering only to your prospects' needs is problematic.
You need both elements, emotion AND logic, to make the sale.
So always keep this in mind:

If any of your competitors can do what you do, in the ๐ด๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ way(s) (ultimately leaving customers with the ๐ด๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐), then you are indeed replaceable.

There are many ways to create a ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ณ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ that separates you from the competition. And I reveal them in my FREE ebook, "Differentiation Done Right" (link to download is in the comments sections below).
