Surrey Police Service is advising the public that the person who was the subject of a public appeal in alleged sexual assault that occurred on June 6, 2026, has been identified by police.
The suspect has been arrested and is in custody. SPS would like to thank the public for their assistance.

One man has been arrested by Surrey Police Service and is now charged with two Criminal Code offences following two alleged bank robberies that occurred in earlier this week.
On June 6, 2026, at approx. 10:50 am, SPS Frontline officers responded to a report of a bank robbery near 104 Avenue and King George Boulevard where one man allegedly threatened staff that he had a weapon and departed with money. A suspect was not located. There were no reported injuries.
On June 8, 2026, at approx. 11:00 am, SPS Frontline officers responded to a report of a bank robbery near 128 Street and 96 Avenue where one man allegedly threatened staff that he had a weapon and departed with money. A suspect was not located. There were no reported injuries.
The investigations remained with SPS Frontline officers, and with the assistance of Integrated Forensics Identification Services (IFIS), and Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC), officers were able to identify a suspect and arrest him on June 9, 2026.
On June 10, 2026, Gregory Roca Bates Pedro, a 22-year-old male, has now been charged with two counts of robbery.
Gregory Roca Bates Pedro is currently remanded in custody until his next court appearance on June 15, 2026.

Surrey Police Service is investigating early morning shots fired in a Surrey City Centre neighbourhood.
On June 11, 2026, at approximately 6:07 am, SPS Frontline officers responded to a report of gunshots outside a residence near 96 Avenue and 133A Street.
Upon arrival, police located damage caused by gunfire to the exterior of the residence. The residence was occupied at the time of the shots fired and fortunately no one was injured.
The investigation is in its early stages and the motive for the shots fired is unknown, but it is believed to be targeted.
SPS’s Major Crime Section (MCS) has taken over the lead on the investigation, and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) will be in the area processing physical and digital evidence.

Three men have entered guilty pleas and been sentenced in connection to a February 2026 shooting incident.
On February 1, 2026, at approximately 3:50 am, Surrey Police Service (SPS) members assigned to Project Assurance, working in collaboration with SPS’s Major Crime Section, were patrolling in Surrey’s Crescent Beach neighbourhood when reports came in of shots fired and a small fire outside a residence near Crescent Road and 132 Street. The three accused were arrested by SPS officers a short time later near 28 Avenue and 140 Street.
SPS’s Major Crime Section led the investigation and in collaboration with officers on SPS’s Project Assurance, were able to secure evidence leading to the charges against Harjot Singh, a 21-year-old male, Taranveer Singh, a 19-year-old male, and Dayajeet Singh Billing, a 21-year-old male.
All three were initially charged with one count of discharging a firearm into a place contrary to section 244.2(1)(a) of the Criminal Code. The original news release can be found here: https://bit.ly/4vLhL8J
On June 9, 2026, the three men entered guilty pleas and were sentenced in Surrey Provincial Court.
Taranveer Singh pleaded guilty to reckless discharge of a firearm and has received a sentence of five years, less time served.
Dayajeet Singh pleaded guilty to throwing an explosive substance and has received a sentence of 27 months, less time served.
Harjot Singh pleaded guilty to throwing an explosive substance and has received a sentence of 25 months, less time served.

Surrey Police Service is investigating shots fired in a South Newton neighbourhood.
On June 9, 2026, at approximately 10:44 am, SPS officers responded to a report of gunshots near 66 Avenue and 129 Street, where an occupant from one vehicle was observed shooting at an occupant associated to another vehicle. Both vehicles fled the area. Upon arrival, police located at least two residences damaged by the gunshots. There have been no reported injuries.
The investigation is in its early stages and the motive for the shots fired is unknown, but it is believed to be targeted. It is not, however, believed to be extortion related.

Surrey Police Service is investigating a stranger sexual assault of a female youth that occurred on May 30, 2026, in which one person has been arrested and charged and another suspect has yet to be identified. Police are now asking for the public’s help to identify the unknown suspect.
SPS Frontline officers were called at approximately 4:30 pm on May 30, 2026, regarding a report that a female youth had been sexually assaulted by two men sometime earlier on May 30, 2026, in a forested area near 9800 Whalley Boulevard. Officers spoke with the victim who was able to provide the descriptions of both suspects. Officers were able to locate one suspect nearby and arrested him without incident.
Ricki Randall Taysup, a 38-year-old male, has been charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference. Taysup remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing and his next scheduled court date is June 15, 2026.
The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his late 30’s, approximately 5’6” tall and 170 lbs, with long dark-coloured hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured coat, dark-coloured ball cap, dark-coloured pants, light-coloured shoes, and was carrying dark-coloured bags.
Police have exhausted efforts to try and identify the suspect and are now asking for the public’s help to identify him. SPS is asking the public to look at the photos released of the unidentified suspect and contact police if you know who he is (additional images on SPS website: https://bit.ly/4xg8k2s)
