Those yellow baskets = fresh pollen 💛🐝
That’s protein… and once inside the hive, it’s packed into cells and turned into “bee bread” to feed the brood.
Which means brood rearing is about to ramp up.
Different colors means different types of pollen sources.
There it is… pollen coming in here in Bearberry 💛🐝 A sure sign the season is waking up.

Built it right or don’t build it at all 🐝
Over a year of planning and engineering put into the ground this week.
Bigger yard. Better setup. Ready for Season 10.

We opened up the hives for the first time and were happy to see good population coming through winter.
We added pollen patties and liquid feed to give them a boost and now it’s all about helping them build into strong, healthy hives for the season ahead.
Spring buildup has begun… and we’re feeling optimistic 🍯🐝

We took our newest little beekeeper along today And he slept the entire time.

Starting our 10th season… we stopped doing it the hard way.
New torch = smoker lit in seconds.
About time, right? 🐝
