MAN FACING CHARGES RELATED TO DANGEROUS DRIVING, FLIGHT FROM POLICE

๐Ÿ“‚ 2026-788952

On the evening of Monday, June 8, police in Prince County, including Summerside Police, RCMP and Kensington Police, received a total of eight (8) driving complaints in connection with a black Dodge Charger, with tinted windows, driving dangerously at high speeds in Springfield, Victoria West, Sherbrooke, New Annan, Kensington, and Summerside.

In one of these cases, Summerside Police located the vehicle and identified the driver before the vehicle fled from police. The driver was later located by Prince District RCMP, arrested, and turned over to Summerside Police.

A twenty-nine year-old Palmer Road man is facing charges related to Dangerous Driving and Flight from Police for incidents in Summerside and Kensington.

โ€œFlight from police puts everyone in danger. If you see driving behaviour that puts all motorists at risk, call 911, your information helps keep everyone safer,โ€ said Summerside Deputy Chief Dale Corish.

Anyone with any information related to these incidents is asked to contact their local police agency or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- TIPS (8477).

35 year old man arrested for 2nd time in a month by JFO.

On June 1st, 2026 Prince District JFO conducted a targeted vehicle stop on Water Street in Summerside. The driver was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking co***ne. Police seized co***ne and cash. 35-year-old Alexander Clarence Robert Banks was arrested and remanded into custody. He had previously been arrested on May 5, 2026 for other outstanding drug related offences.

โ€œThe fact that the same individual has been arrested twice within a single month for drug-related offences demonstrates both the persistence of those involved in trafficking and the unwavering commitment of our Joint Forces Operation unit. This work is critical to deterrence - sending a clear message that those who choose to bring illicit drugs into our community will be held accountable.โ€ said Jason Blacquiere Chief of the Summerside Police.

The Prince District JFO Drug Unit is comprised of members of Summerside Police Services, the Prince District RCMP and Kensington Police Services. It focuses on drug activity in Prince County. DRIVER CHARGED FOR PASSING SCHOOL BUS DISPLAYING FLASHING RED LIGHTS

๐Ÿ“‚ 2026-763968

Summerside Police Services have charged a driver for passing a school bus displaying flashing red lights.

On June 4 at approximately 3:30 PM, officers were in the area of Water Street East monitoring school bus traffic after receiving multiple recent complaints about vehicles passing buses displaying flashing red lights.

Officers observed a vehicle pass a bus that had stopped to let students off. The bus had come to a complete stop, and its red stop lights were clearly visible. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle, and the driver was issued a summary offence ticket in relation to the incident.

The minimum penalty, which the driver was issued, carries a $1,000 fine and a three-month license suspension.

Police are reminding the public to be aware of bus traffic on island roadways, and to be sure to stop for buses when required.

Did you know? Before Summerside became an incorporated town in 1877, our community was already a thriving shipbuilding centre and growing commercial hub. As workers and sailors passed through the area, local ale houses became popular gathering spots, creating a need for maintaining public order and safety.

Around the time of incorporation, the Town began appointing police officers to serve the community. These appointments were made annually, with typically two or three officers responsible for upholding the law and helping keep Summerside safe.

From those early officers walking the streets of a busy maritime town to the dedicated members of the Summerside Police Service today, our commitment to protecting and serving the community remains as strong as ever.
