⭐️ BOARD OF DIRECTOR SPOTLIGHT ⭐️
NICK CAMERON - Director of Programming
Nick’s connection to baseball began at just four years old when he first stepped onto the field with SABA's Pony program, known today as Rookie Ball. What started as a childhood pastime quickly grew into a lifelong passion for the game.
Over the next decade and a half, Nick would go on to represent his province numerous times, including twice at the baseball Canada Cup as a member of team PEI. After high school, he played for the Summerside Chevys in the New Brunswick Junior League and was a member of the Charlottetown Islanders for three years, including their inaugural season in 2011.
Along with winning back-to-back National University Championships with UNB, Nick considers his fondest baseball memory to be finishing 4th place in the country when his team hosted the 1998 Peewee National Championships. He still vividly remembers the packed stands on the VIV field as well as the overwhelming community support throughout the tournament. Nick hopes to see that same energy and excitement this summer at both the Ray Carter Cup and the Baseball Canada Cup.
After returning home to PEI in 2021, Nick shifted his baseball focus toward coaching. For three summers, he coached the 11U AAA and 13U AAA Chevys, alongside his father, Mike Cameron—his own coach throughout his years with SABA. In 2024, their team captured a silver medal at the Baseball Atlantic Championships in Summerside. Nick is especially excited about next summer when his three-year-old son, Crew, will begin his own baseball journey.
As Director of Programming, Nick comprises rosters and schedules for the rookie ball program. He also works closely with SABA's program staff, one of his former summer jobs, to ensure every young athlete has a positive, fun, and memorable introduction to baseball.
His goal is to help create an environment where the youngest Chevys develop a lifelong love for the game.
Nick wishes all players, parents, coaches, and fellow board members a successful and rewarding season and looks forward to another exciting summer working alongside the best association in the business!

‼️ATTENTION S.A.B.A MEMBERS
Ahead of the anticipated July opening of VIV Field, we would like to pass along some housekeeping information that we hope can be shared with all of our SABA athletes👇:
With the artificial Turf being installed for the infield of play, metal cleats will NOT be permitted for use on this field. NO EXCEPTIONS - This will be closely monitored throughout the summer as the field opens.
APPROVED footwear for VIV Field is as follows:
- Rubber Cleats
- TPU Cleats (sharper plastic base)
- Turf Shoes
The resources that go into renovations that our ball parks are going through are very extensive and we hope (and know) that we will treat our fields with respect and that all visiting teams will follow suit.
As a courtesy, Summerside Source for Sports and Sport Chek have been notified and are putting in orders for more of the above approved cleats.
SABA thanks you for your cooperation with the above and any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out.
