Sometimes size does matter!🤭 Cucumbers are the heroes of vegetables 🥗. The first vegetable most kids eat without argument and they go with everything. They are nutrient rich and will keep you hydrated consisting of 95% water. I grow english cucumbers, they need something to climb on, lots of sun and water. The only trick is to pick at the right size; too small and they taste dry and bitter, too big and they have no flavour at all(still talking about the cuc’s); but get them just in between and they are juicy, sweet and crunchy! Store your fresh picked cucumbers at room temperature not in your fridge; if they get cold they shrivel up and go limp (😉 honestly, I can’t make this stuff up😁)

Oh My Garden!
Raindrops on Rosemary, Green leaves on basil,
soft feathers of dill and chives ready to bloom,
these are a few of my favorite things!
(ya, it’s a stretch😏)
I love growing and cooking with fresh herbs, but I’ve never had luck starting them by seed; so here is my secret to success with herbs, Slegers Greens. They have all kinds of fresh boxed herbs that you can cook with immediately, or you can plant them in your garden like I do so they are ready and waiting when I need them.
I grow basil in my tomato patch, and it really helps flavor the tomatoes. My friend Rebecca has me hooked on cherry tomatoes, seasoned with chopped basil; no oil or dressing whatsoever just 🌿 and 🍅 , and it’s delicious.

My deck is surrounded with tall dill, and there is not a mosquito🦟 to be found😁!

Sweet Handsome Wally❤️❤️
Wally spent his youth chasing rabbits and going on family camping trips. He would run for hours and often share his catch with Sophie and Macy. When he got older, he went to work in the body shop. He was always the first to get to the office when the phone rang and the only technician to sniff out a deer hit, a raccoon mishap or the occasional wild turkey. He worked well with others and when parts were delivered, they often came with a “Wally treat”. A few years ago, he retired from 22 Auto body and moved to a slower pace as the Over The Deep End mermaid greeter, he was often found perusing the parking lot looking for love and slowing down traffic. He wouldn’t step foot inside the house until he was offered a treat, he was very good at training his humans.
He loved his family, swimming, walks to the bush, having his picture taken and beef stroganoff!
After almost 14 years, saying goodbye to him breaks our heart, but as much as we are hurting right now; not one of us wouldn’t do it all again for a family pet like our Sweet Handsome Wally❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ RIP

Wanna a peak at my peppers?? This year I started my pepper seeds early and it’s paying off with some early season peppers. I’m not sure I can cook a meal without peppers, they are a must have in most of my dishes ✅
One bell pepper provides 169% of your daily needs of vitamin C. It’s high in fiber and potassium and carotenoids which are antioxidants (can never have too many antioxidants😁)
My mother-in-law always had big bushy pepper plants with twice as many peppers as anyone else, it was several years before she told me that she plants two seedlings in each hole!!!

The super hated, superfood: 🥬 Kale !! Wait, don’t click away because you hate kale. You just have to know what to do with it❤️
Kale can boost heart health, support bone strength and provide essential vitamins and antioxidants. You know it’s good for you; but how do you make it taste good?
My favorite smoothie is fresh raspberries with fresh kale and unsweetened soy milk with unflavored protein powder. (You don’t need any artificial flavors when mother natures in your blender.)

Another favorite that I can even get my family to eat is Caesar salad; two parts Romain lettuce, one part kale and ta-da; you are a foodie!!
Kale is easy to grow and generous to harvest, you can pick the leaves and let it regrow! If you want to freeze it for winter smoothies, just rinse, dry, and put in a Ziploc bag in the freezer (remember to reuse your Ziploc bags. Mother nature needs our help against her enemy; plastic.)

Oh My Garden
From September to May I spend my time gently encouraging my classes to reach their fitness goals(the gentleness is a matter of opinion 😉) and my summer is spent nurturing my garden and harvesting all Mother Nature has to offer❤️
Every Monday I will have a OMG post to share garden tips, recipes and even a couple pick and plant days that you can participate in🪴🌼 🥗 🥕

We start of with:
Pass The Peas Please!!
Sugar snap peas are so easy to grow and contain in tomato cages. Nutrient rich in Vitamin C, fiber and several essential vitamins and minerals. Great in a stir fry or for perfect crispness; sun baked - directly from the garden to your mouth! You don’t need a lot of room or a green thumb for these generous little guys, water, sun and gentle encouragement 🙏
Happy Monday!
