Wheatland County is a municipal district located East of Calgary. Covering 4,539 km², more than 8000 people call Wheatland County home.
Twelve of the twenty-four distinct communities in the County are officially recognized as hamlets. The hamlets are overseen by the County while the Villages of Hussar, Standard and Rockyford, and the Town of Strathmore are self-governed. Back to School Safety Reminder 🚌
School is back in session! While Wheatland County has school zones at Wheatland Crossing, Rural Route Agriculture Academy, and Carseland School, student safety matters everywhere.
School buses travel County roads daily, and students may be crossing the road to get on or off the bus. Please slow down, stay alert, and always stop for a school bus with flashing red lights.
Help keep students safe this school year; watch for children and give buses plenty of space.

Alberta RCMP remind drivers how to safely navigate four-way stops:
Four-way stops can be confusing, but knowing who has the right of way helps keep everyone moving safely.
• First to stop, first to go. If you arrive first, you generally have the right of way.
• Arrive at the same time? The vehicle on the right gets to go first.
• Make eye contact and always stay alert. Never assume another driver sees you or will follow the rules.
When in doubt, slow down and make safety your priority.

Muirfield Water Quality Information
Wheatland County is aware that some Muirfield residents have noticed changes in their water’s taste, odor, or appearance. Independent laboratory testing has confirmed that the water remains safe to consume and continues to meet provincial and federal health standards.
These temporary changes are aesthetic and may be caused by naturally occurring substances, minerals, or sediment. The County continues to monitor water quality and take steps to improve raw water quality.

As summer continues across Alberta, the Alberta RCMP is reminding motorists to make safe choices and never drive while impaired.
• Never drive or operate any vehicle, off-highway vehicle, or boat while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
• Plan ahead and arrange a sober ride, taxi, or rideshare if you intend to consume substances.
• If you see someone about to drive impaired, step in and help them make a safer choice.
• Report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911 when it is safe to do so.

Who should be screened?
• Women 45 to 74: This group is most commonly diagnosed with breast cancer, and should plan to have a mammogram every 2 years until they turn 75. This group can self-refer.
• Women 40 to 44: Screening is optional and they should discuss the risks and benefits of screening with their health care provider. A referral is needed for their first mammogram in Alberta, which is available online here.
• Women 75 and over: Can continue screening and should discuss the risks and benefits with their health care provider.
• Screening mammograms are not recommended for women under age 40: Women in this age group should discuss their breast cancer risk and mammography options with their health care provider.
