📀 Mini DVDs were a terrible idea.

Seriously — who thought it was smart to store your memories on a disc that only works if you finalized it correctly… with a camcorder you lost in 2008? Oh, and if it gets scratched - even a little - lost forever. Brutal.

I just finished finalizing 30 DVD's which they thought were never going to be able to be watched. Thankfully now they're good to go!

Finished up a large slide conversion project (over 1800 slides!), and as a photographer I started noticing that there were a lot of incredible images included in the collection.

Come to find out that the photographer was on their final battle with dementia, and the client who had me convert them felt he had little time left.

Sadly they were correct and just 9 days after I was able to deliver the digitized slides - the photographer of this incredible collection of images passed away.

David Nearing was from Reserve Mines in Cape Breton, NS - and he loved photography and testing out techniques. It was a pleasure capturing the slides of his history, and my sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I was given permission to post some of the photographs converted and this project will always be very special to me. I spent many summers and Christmases in Glace Bay very close to Reserve Mines and there are a lot of familiar photographs in this collection which bring back a ton of memories for me personally.

This is just another reason why I love doing this. Thank you Amandah for allowing me to share.
