☀️ Happy SUMMER SOLSTICE!
The longest day of the year has us craving sunshine, fresh air, and a really good book. Come on in and stock up on beach, hammock, or cottage reads, and audiobooks for weeding, walking, or wandering. (Conveniently, we know just the place to find them all.)
Or bring your latest read and settle into a cozy spot in our front garden. You might find a few of our library team doing just that.
⭐️ PLUS!! The STAR (Summer Time Adult Reading) CHALLENGE starts July 1!
Let's make some summer memories now that it's finally here. And let us know in the comments what you're reading!!

Not to brag, but we do some pretty cool things here at SPL.
One of our favourites? The Teen Maker Marketplace — where Brooke, our fearless Teen Librarian, helps young artists and makers turn their hobbies into real dollars while earning volunteer hours. It's just the best.
This year, the program has a few exciting changes:
✨ It runs in the summer — which means teens entering Grade 9 can join, too!
✨ Meetings are on Zoom — so you can participate from the cottage, the backseat of a car, or wherever summer takes you.
✨ The Vendor Market is moving downtown during the busy season — meaning more shoppers, more visibility, and hopefully... more sales!
If you know a creative teen who makes, paints, crafts, sews, designs, builds, or dreams up cool things, send them our way.
Applications are open for only a tiny bit longer -- so don't wait too long!
👀 What you see in these images are some teen makers from last year with their business banners. Aren't they so great?!
Tiny glimpses of tiny masterpieces… made with BIG talent.
Stop by and take in the full Tiny Art exhibit at the reception from 4:00 - 6:00 PM OR on display on the main floor until the end of the month. You’ll love what these 58 artists created on such a small canvas.
HAPPY HOUR in the STACKS is back. And we couldn’t be more delighted.
We love seeing our community out in full force — making new friends, enjoying good music, delicious cocktails and mocktails, getting creative with literary-themed crafts.
This time we’re welcoming the most fabulous York Street Thought Process. This talented duo will knock your socks off. And we’re lucky to also have The Bunker Performance Lounge & Cafe joining us to mix cocktails.
Must be 19+ to wander the stacks after hours next Friday!

🎨📚🖌️🖼️ Sometimes typical novels are turned into a visual work of art. Aren’t they GORGEOUS?!
And thanks to Brittany, and her eye for beauty, we curated a whole pile of them for you to look at (and check out).
“Fore-edge painting” can be traced back to the 1500s, and has continued for centuries, but we’re delighted it’s made a big comeback as of late.
In this ultra digital age, there is something extra special about feasting your eyes on real pages of written words and works of art on the pages edges.
