Jacobs Home Hardware Store began in 1900 when Henry Gilles converted a blacksmith shop into a hardware store. In 1934, local entrepreneur Gordon Hollinger purchased it, renaming it Hollinger Hardware, and appointed Henry Sittler as manager.
