Justice For Rip And Silo
Rip and Silo are 2 dogs that got shot in Sooke, BC on October 19th, 2025.

It has been 7 months and 3 days since the boys were shot. I just thought I’d make a post with a little refresh of some facts, and some questions to potentially get someone thinking. And of course once again as I seem to do constantly, plead for answers.
1. The shooting happened on October 19th, 2025, in the area of Otter Point
2. Riptide and Silo arrived at the Farmer Drive location at approximately 9:30 am and snuck away from Gabe around 11:30 or so am, they were shot around 11:50-12pm
3. The Shooting happened between 2850-2560 on Farmer Drive.
4. Silo made it to and passed in a neighbouring driveway, which the neighbour had left shortly before and was not home at the exact time of the shooting, but pulled in shortly after and noticed him within minutes of him lying there.
5. Riptide was rushed to WAVES where he received $15k in care and stayed for 4 nights. (I am forever grateful for the community who made it possible to save Riptide)
Thoughts to consider:
Were you in the area?
Did you see the dogs on October 19th?
Did you potentially lend your vehicle to somebody that day?
Have you heard any rumours, or stories that could potentially be fact?
Have you met the dogs? If so, what was your opinion of them. Were they problematic?
I know any dash cam footage this far from the date would be over lapped, but let’s think in our memory banks. If you know something, if you have heard something, if you think you noticed something, before, during, after. It’s worth saying something.
All we want is to know why and who is to blame for this mortifying act. We can make a ton of assumptions, it’s easy to come up with many different story’s. What we want is facts. My wound isn’t healing here, I’m just growing more and more impatient and frustrated with how this is being taken care of.
Please keep sharing, please keep talking, somebody knows something.

Today would have been Silo’s 16th Birthday
This birthday was stolen from us to celebrate with our old man. The very first night he came home to us, he was crying on his new bed, in a big scary place he didn’t know, with weird people he didn’t recognize. I felt so bad for him that I went downstairs and slept on the dog bed with him, petting him, cuddling him and trying to comfort him. I think I did that for his first 3 nights, then he realized he could come to us.
Silo, I hope you’re dancing in the sky, I hope you’re getting all the pets, I hope you’re comfy, happy, and on the biggest adventure. I hope somebody welcomed you the way I did. You rescued me just as much as we rescued you ❤️
Although I can’t give you a birthday cookie today, or a hat, or make you pose for pictures, I hope you’re being celebrated. You deserve all the good doggy things in the world. I love you so much, and I miss you more than words can say.
I’m so sorry you were taken from this world the way you were. Your calm in my world of chaos is what I am missing right now, you always reminded me to stop and smell the flowers (every 5 feet, on every single walk). I see things every now and again that I’m sure are from you.
I constantly remind myself to stop and let life happen in this new age go go go, accepting where I am and what’s going on around me, living in the moment is hard for me.
You loved relaxing, exploring, adventure, walks, dancing, and people sitting on the ground with you. If I had it my way, I’d do all your favourite things today, outdoors of course.
Here’s to you Stink, my boy, my old man. I’m wishing you the best 16th birthday ever. I wish I could snuggle you and love on you how you deserve. ❤️🩹🫶🏼🎉🪽

If you know something about the shooting of 2 dogs, on Farmer Drive in the Otter Point area in Sooke on October 19th, 2025, between the hours of 11am and 12pm, please say something. No matter how small of a detail, anything that seemed off leading up to, after, or during. PLEASE SAY SOMETHING . This is getting old, the pain I feel every single day, the worry, the stress on the people involved with these dogs. The loss! The immense loss.
Closer would sure be nice. My heart still hurts.
Just know the truth always comes out. Stories, lies, secrets, they are hard to keep buried. We deserve the truth, my dogs deserve the truth, and we all deserve justice. We deserve answers.

We’ve had some birthdays this month!
Lots of friends and family, May seems to be a very popular month for birthdays. One of those happens to be Rip! Rip’s 4th Birthday was May 1st. He’s made a full recovery and bounced back fully since being shot, he loves to play, lounge, and of course he’s a very good actor, excelling in drama.
7 months ago we didn’t think we’d see his 4th. We’re so excited to happy to have been able to celebrate it.
Thank you Riptide for being such a strong boy and pulling through for us. Thankfully you get to continue a life full of adventure and treats.
I am such a lucky dog mom to have been given the opportunity to call you mine, as well as have this second chance with you. I am so thankful.
In the last few months Rip also graduated from trick class. He excelled in learning, and now waves when you say “Hi Rippy!”. This class was so much fun, we can’t wait to get him back into obedience and move forward with Good Canine Neighbour.
We love you so much Riptide 🥰
Such a good birthday boy ❤️🎉🥳

The sorry excuse of a human that pulled a trigger twice in a public road (within meters of occupied houses) and caused this pain to our family and our boys is still out there. Just know you will be found, lies and drama will only get you so far. Karma exists, and the people who deserve it get it hard. 🫶🏼
If you know something, say something! It’s never too late, and you won’t regret getting this weight off your shoulders. Tips can be anonymous.

Silo loved life, he loved his walks, he loved his dog house, and his jacket 🫶🏼
Rest easy my sweet boy, I love you always ❤️🪽

Meet Serendipity, Riptide, Rip, Dip or any combo that goes with Rip.. Rip-a-Fart, Rip-Tard, Ripple chip, you get the idea.
Riptide is an almost 4 year old Australian Shepard mix. He was rescued by my best friend Loranda in 2022 from the SPCA as a 2 month old puppy. He was absolutely insane as a youngster, totally high energy (still somewhat true) not much for manners, and to this day still makes questionable choices. Not choices deserving of a bullet to the chest.. but choices such as jumping from one fallen tree to another, and bailing hard, clothes lining himself with a stick that’s way too long, picking a stick up the wrong way and accidentally deep th*****ng it, or eating the cone right off his own head after being neutered, just to name a few, I’d say you’re getting the gist of it though. He was raised on a farm setting that had horses and chickens.
Riptide is an extremely happy go lucky dog. With high energy, and a lot of intelligence. Loranda knew to take advantage of all this, and see the good in all of his silly choices. She put HOURS of work into him, obedience rallies, dog training classes, socialization, trail riding with her horses, hours at barns with many different animals. Rip has participated in obedience and rally-O competitions (and won). He does tricks I’m not even aware of I’m sure of it, and that’s no thanks to me. I admire the dedication I watched her throw at this boy, day in and day out.
He loves all his pup pals, Dumpy, Zeph (brousin moo) and Denali (sh****ad neister). He also apparently has a pal named Otis and I actually have no clue whose dog he is. He’s also JUST starting to enjoy Coopers energy (they had a rough go about before Cooper got neutered).
He’s excelled at everything he’s had thrown at him, he’s a fantastic dog with the sweetest soul. This upcoming March, he’s entering a new adventure of trick classes, which will set him up to take the Canine Good Neighbours Program and be certified as such after completing the test.
Riptide was given to me almost 1 year ago. The transition just felt right, and it couldn’t have worked out any smoother. He fell even more in love with Silo, and met his true love Gabriel. Silo and Rip spent their time outside in the yard while Gabe and I went to work, I like to imagine throughout those days that Silo was teaching Rip some wisdom, he’s shown a lot of growth this year.
Typically when we would get home, Silo would be in his house, and Rip would be either on top of the picnic table patiently waiting our arrival, or curled up in a chair on the deck.
Over the last year I’m proud to say I have bonded more with Rip than I ever thought I would have. He’s a very smart boy, and extremely loyal. He loves to chase rocks, jump off docks, go for runs down logging roads, sniff every scent possible. He’s up for any adventure, his favourite activities include hiking with his people, being the trail boss accompanying his people on horseback, paddle boarding, he absolutely loves going out on the quad, and even dirtbikes. If you’re up for an adventure, Rip says when and where let’s get at it!
I won’t forget the camping trips Gabe and went on in the bed of trucks with both dogs. Rip always tried to sneak up in between us, and collect the blankets for himself, and Silo was always dedicated to keeping our feet warm and squished. A very tight cuddle puddle. But definitely worth every second.
He enjoys his down time as well, he’s always got to be on the couch with you and his other dog/cat friends. He even has his very own Squishmallow because he has to have a pillow to rest on. He enjoys a good comfy spot. In the morning when Gabe leaves for work, Rip sneaks into his side of the bed for his morning cuddles. He’s a very strong, smart, and friendly boy, with so so so much character and charm. Very, very smart.. he knows when the cheese is coming out before I even open the fridge, thanks to Gabe, I pay double the cheese tax over here.
He’ll even let me paint his nails without any hesitation. He quite enjoys his spa days, he sprawls out on his back and actually lets me spin him to get to the next paw. Usually accompanied by some true crime documentary, or some wild TLC show.
I am insanely thankful for the second chance Rip got at life. I know I’ve said it a lot, but I cannot thank the community that rallied to help us with this second chance enough. We are so grateful. 🫶🏼
He is thriving, he’s back to full throttle activity, and he’s finally back to himself. Everything said here is what to expect with Rip. Not only is an adventure a great time, but it’s also an absolute comedy show with this dog. Between the faces he makes, and the choices he makes, you’ll find yourself cackling at some point.
Rip is the 4 year old dog, come May 1st, that got shot and SURVIVED, in Sooke, in the Otterpoint area on October 19th, 2025. I’m telling you now, he didn’t deserve to be shot.
