Quality Harvests
Regenerative market garden in Smithers, BC on unceded Wet'suwet'en land
Amongst so many other transplantings, last week we planted out our potatoes and direct seeded carrots... and then it finally rained. I wonder who enjoyed it more, us or our plants? (But then again, our enjoyment is their enjoyment, isn't it?)
Seriously wondering..

Market Farming 2025 - That's (almost) a wrap!
The last of our stock and final harvests can be found until Christmas throughthe.north farm to door deliveries and on shelves.
Thanks to these incredible humans - we produced more food than ever this year, and we grew it from seed right here in the north, for the north.
And these are also the faces behind all big efforts .the.north and .west.herb.co
We broke all kinds of records this year, including a 4 market weekend across 4 days, and then a 4 market weekend across 3 days.
These incredibly helpful hands showed up every day. Rain or shine, week day or week end, in the field or at the market or at home, and everything that comes up in between and after hours. We couldn't do it without this behind the scenes commitment and support, and we are genuinely inspired by the remarkable amount of food and medicine this modest amount of human powered determination could produce and distribute for our communities.
Grateful to be nourishing people from Houston to Prince Rupert, helping to get healthy food to their tables at minimal cost to the environment.
We can't wait to do it again next year!
As per usual, we are signing off socials until seeds are sprouting in 2026.
Looking forward to building our 2026 team. Dont hesitate to reach out if you want to join our adventure. We're always happy for helping hands in the soil or at the market.
Thanks to each and every customer and partner for your continued support, every purchase helps make dreams come true, and every dollar, bag of greens or bunch of roots counts more than you can imagine

Planning any winter reading? Consider some food for thought :)
It's eye-opening to see why the journey our food took to get to us is so important, and why there are deep implications for our health and for sustainability.
Farming and food science have changed dramatically in the last half-century, and our awareness of these changes and their consequences is truly beginning to catch up with us.
We're living longer but sicker, and the chronic diseases we're mostly suffering from are largely preventable through better food choices. What if we could quit so much of this pain and sadness we and our loved ones are experiencing, and instead - heal.
We generally don't want to buy cheap imported products that are made cheaply from cheap things. Why should it be any different when it comes to our food? Especially when we're ingesting those cheap and low quality things, and we expect them to nourish us and make us feel good and strong.
What we don't really understand we can't really appreciate, and we can't really change.
If we love and respect our wonderful selves and our beautiful world, let's make positive choices that honour them, and what better place to start than the food choices we make everyday, multiple times a day.
It's easy to feel disconnected to things in our complex and confused modern age, and connecting to our food and the story behind it can be a magnificent force for healing.
If you're interested in diving deeper into the story of our food and food system, here are some good places to start!
We especially recommend the four titles furthest to the left:
Animal, Vegetable, Junk
What Your Food Ate
The Third Plate
Ultra Processed People
These four books have significantly helped us to unpack the story of our food and have revolutionized our understanding of the issues at hand and what's at stake. We are grateful for everyone who is working towards clarity and truth around food and bridging our connection to nature.
