I would like to acknowledge today being Aboriginal Veterans Day. I would like to say miigwetch to our Veterans in our communities for your service past and present to your country and community.

You continue to make us proud.

This year was a very active fire season in our region. During the year it was brought up our communities needed more qualified wildland firefighters.

By doing this, you are gaining valuable experience, seasonal employment and helping our communities.

Fire Prevention Week Since 1922, Fire Prevention Week (FPW) has been observed on the Sunday through Saturday period in which October 9 falls to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
