Norfolk County

We've become aware of an altered version of a Norfolk County waste collection sticker that has been shared on social media.

The image being circulated is an edited version of an 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗸 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

The actual sticker (on this post) is placed on grey garbage carts set out during the wrong collection week to advise residents that it is not their scheduled garbage collection week and directs them to find their collection schedule online.

As Norfolk County continues the transition to the new waste collection program, we encourage residents to refer to official County resources for accurate information.

✅ Visit norfolkcounty.ca/WasteChanges for information, resources, and FAQs

Hey, Norfolk! 👋 As collection continues across the County, here's a friendly reminder about cart placement:

✅ Place carts at the end of your driveway
❌ Do not place carts on the roadway

Keeping carts off the road helps improve safety for drivers, pedestrians and collection crews, while helping collection run smoothly.

Thanks for doing your part to keep Norfolk County moving! 👍

Drumroll, please... (not easy with T. rex arms)

𝟳 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘀.

That's how much organic waste Norfolk residents diverted from landfill on day one, about the same weight as a Tyrannosaurus rex.

That's one dino-sized diversion from landfill!

Thank you for helping turn food scraps and other organic materials into a valuable resource instead of sending them to landfill.

Tyrrific job, Norfolk County! 🦖

We see you, Vittoria! 👀 Great job rolling out your new garbage and organics carts for collection day!

Today (Sept. 28) is the first day of Norfolk's new waste collection program, and carts are rolling to the curb across the County.

Thank you to everyone who has embraced the change and taken the time to learn the new system. Every organics cart set out today helps keep food waste out of landfill and puts it to better use.

Here's to a successful first collection day, Norfolk County! ♻️

Let’s look back, Norfolk 🕰️ Did you know the Donnybrook Fair has been a Norfolk tradition for more than 150 years?

As Norfolk County celebrates its 25th anniversary, we're reflecting on some of the traditions that have helped shape our communities for generations. One of Norfolk's oldest and most cherished traditions is the Donnybrook Fair, which was held just last weekend.

The fairgrounds in Walsh were established in 1866 when Hiram Gee donated five acres of land to Charlotteville Township. A community hall was built on the property in 1868 and continues to stand today as the Charlotteville Community Centre.

Historically, the Donnybrook Fair was well known for its horse racing events. This photo, taken circa 1910, shows local horse traders gathered at the fairgrounds and offers a glimpse into a tradition that has brought the community together for well over a century.
