How to ADVOCATE for your Black Equestrian Friends.
Black hair is beautiful, diverse, and deeply rooted in culture and history. For Black equestrians, hair care and helmet fit can be a unique challenge—one that often isn’t talked about enough. Let’s change that.
✨ Understanding Black Hair & Protective Styles
Black hair comes in many textures, from loose curls to tight coils, and requires specific care. Many Black riders choose protective styles to maintain hair health while riding.
For decades, many Black riders have felt pressured to chemically relax or straighten their hair to fit traditional helmet standards. However, relaxers contain harsh chemicals that weaken hair over time.
While straightening hair may make helmet fit easier, it’s not the only solution! Black riders shouldn’t have to compromise hair health for safety.
A properly fitting helmet is non-negotiable for safety, but their are some options as to what Black equestrians can do.
Let’s Keep the Conversation Going
Black riders have always been part of equestrian history. Let’s ensure the sport is safe, inclusive, and respectful of Black hair.
Most Helmet Companies do not know how to approach Black Hair, or give it a chance and I have created a Phase 1 Booklet of how to style some protective styles underneath a helmet to help with some fitting challenges. 💖
I have tried to reach out to some other helmet companies and manufactures to learn the specific fitting of their styles of helmets with protective styles with not much luck- so hopefully their will be an explanation as to why. 💁🏽♀️
Go learn about Black Hairstyles so you can familiarize yourself to help someone struggling with fit- and if you need help, reach out to yours trully 💖🧠

✨I should not see your harness strap hanging below your chin. 👎🏽

Part 1 of "Buying a used Helmet"
Look at these photos! 👀
✨Would you consider this good condition?
✨Serious question, we are all learning to do better and be safe.
✨IF you are thinking about buying a used equestrian helmet online, Here's what you need to know to ensure safety and value.
1. Check the Helmet's History: Always ask the seller about the helmet's history. Has it been in any falls or accidents? Even minor impacts can compromise its integrity.
2. Inspect for Damage: Look closely at photos and, if possible, ask for more detailed images. Check for cracks, scratches, dents, or any signs of wear and tear. The outer shell should be smooth and intact.
3. Verify the Age: Helmets have a lifespan, generally about 5 years. Check the manufacture date, usually found on a sticker inside the helmet. Older helmets may not provide adequate protection.
4. Look for Certification: Ensure the helmet meets current safety standards (ASTM/SEl in the U.S. or equivalent in other countries). Certification labels should be visible inside the helmet.
5. Fit and Comfort: A helmet that doesn't fit properly won't protect you adequately. Know your size.
6. Seller Reputation: Buy from reputable sellers or groups.
7. Price Comparison: Compare the price with similar new and used helmets. If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
✨Remember, your safety is paramount.
✨Investing in a reliable helmet, even if it means spending a bit more, is worth it.
✨Stay safe and happy riding!

🏇 Ever think about what happens if you fall off and land on something round?
We did! That's why we put our ARRO Helmet through rigorous hemi testing. Imagine the force from hitting jumps, rocks, posts, trees, or gates. 😱
Here's the scoop:
> Independent testing of equestrian helmets against a round (hemi) surface.
🔢 Results:
• ARRO: Lowest transmitted force, way below common max limits!
• Competitors: Higher forces, some even reaching levels associated with potential serious injury or fatality. 🚑
Our helmets are designed to keep you safer by more comprehensive testing against more hazards.
Ride safer with ARRO – your head deserves the best! 🏆
