Reusing the residues produced during the making of Whisky is the challenge that IBioIC and SWRI have set themselves. It is a sustainable project that reduces both the volume of waste and the extraction of natural resources. The use of biotechnology allows the production of higher value-added products from biomass that was originally destined to be thrown away. The accessibility to new technologies allows biotechnology to expand and offer more sustainable alternatives to meet today's challenges. Which technologies allow you to go further?
Whisky industry and biotech innovators collaborate to find new sustainable solutions An exciting new project has launched that brings together Scotland’s most successful export industry and leading biotechnology innovators to find new sustainable solutions from whisky co-products.

The human body works with thousands of perfectly chained biochemical reactions that maintain life. More and more research is being done to understand these mechanisms. Researchers at the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies (CBIS) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute have highlighted the correlation between decreased enzyme activity and increased fracture risk. A better understanding of this type of phenomenon opens the door to possible solutions. Very often the production of such medical products will require rigorous monitoring supported by adapted technologies.
Bone fracture risk may increase when critical enzymatic processes decline A new study suggests that a loss of enzymatic processes within the body can increase a person’s risk of bone fracture.

It is difficult to make an assessment of the year 2020 without mentioning the great rise of biotechnologies. This field offers concrete solutions to today's problems. Whether it is the restoration of natural environments affected by pollution, the production of vaccines, or the proposal of sustainable food alternatives, biotechnologies are everywhere and contribute to a better future. We look forward to discovering what 2021 has in store for us and seeing the progression of new technologies.

The Biotech Paradox Of 2020: A Year In Review 2020 was an incredibly paradoxical year for those of us in biotech: the striking dichotomy of simultaneously experiencing agonizing tragedy alongside buoyant optimism.

The biological reactions that enable the production of your products are very complex and sensitive to variations. Once it is possible to capture all this information, you must be able to interpret it in order to make the right decisions at the right time to maximize production. Moreover, the ability to detect variations early saves precious time, which helps to reduce batch losses. There are different strategies such as the use of artificial intelligence. What would be the most suitable method of capture and interpretation for your bioprocess?
